trailer
« on: August 28, 2014, 04:33:20 PM »
This trailer says 19-22 foot boat. Looks like all the adjustment is in the bracket where the winch goes. Will this work under my CVX 20? The price is right comes with new fenders and my old one is falling appart.

The bow support might be a little high, even when you adjust it and bring it down all the way.  These Glastron Carlson boats are pretty low profile compared to modern boat designs.  I recently picked up a newer trailer and had to do a modification to the front bow support to get it low enough and fit under the boats nose properly.  I'm sure it can be adjusted with a simple grinder to chop a bit off and then a drill for new pin holes.  You really will not know though until you trial fit it at a boat landing.  The bunks should adjust in and out with a few tools and I would think installing the fenders would be a must; those tires otherwise would throw up a lot of pea rock nicking up your hull.

Best of luck.

You might be able to flip the bow support over to give it a lower support point.  Had to do that on my trailer swap as well.

Good luck!

You really don't need a tandem trailer with that size boat. It's nearly impossible to move the trailer/boat around without it connected to a car when you have tandem trailer. Then you twice the bearings and tires to worry about. Just something to think about.

Is it just the picture or is that rear axle bent?

I agree with Jason, that if you move it around much there hard to handle ...
And two times the up keep with tandem's.
BUT ...
If you get a flat or bad bearing out on the road, remove tire and you can make it home.

I would go with this type of trailer..

Shorelander Boat Trailer - $450 (Millard)

I purchased a new one for my cvx16 a few years ago it would easily handle a 18 - 19 ft boat..

Thanks for the insight guys. I never considered the mobility of 4 vs 2. I need to be able to move it in the garage by hand. I'll keep looking. If Michigan was only one state over, I'd pick up that ski machine and trailer!

Of course I'd like to buy a new one for $500! I found this one up in International Falls for $600 had a 21ft boat on it. Its at least a 4hr drive.

You might try Twin City Outboard in Shakopee. They always have trailers from boats they have junked. Call James at Boat Motor Recyclers too. (952 894 4888) What ever you get I always pack the bearings install double lip seals, and bearing buddies. If you have breaks you need to go through them too. It's not hard to put $500 - $1,000 into a trailer, so start with something worth fixing.

That looks like the haul rite trailer that my CVZ came with. Nice pulling trailer, could barely tell it was there when I pulled the CVZ home from Illinois last year.

You can also look for a cheap donor boat with a decent trailer and do a switcheroo.

Gregg, Doran … it was Bud's Motorsports down near Lake of the Ozarks.  That's where I bought the trailer for the GT.  It was a 2012 Tracker Trailer, never titled or mated to a boat, I bought it in 2013 for $575.  Swing away tongue, retractable safety cables, guide-ons, chromed diamond plate steps at the fenders … The Tracker facility is near there, I think in Springfield, and this guy buys up all kinds of trailers and boat accessories that they aren't using on current model years.  www.budsmotorsports.com

make the 12 hour drive out to MI to get this trailer. Looks like an aluminum trailer and you wouldn't need to adjust anything to get it to fit. I tempted to get it just for the fenders for $300!

I've got two mesages to the guy with no reply. I was trying for the trailer and hull. I would make that trip.
