Larson Boats Discontinued?
« on: July 07, 2020, 03:12:29 PM »
This might be old news but it was new news to me : https://www.polaris.com/en-us/news/company/polaris-to-discontinue-production-of-rinker-striper-larson-fx-boats/

I know this post references Larson FX (the fishing boats Larson recently started making) but I don't see the website for the runabouts around anymore either.  Is Larson yet another iconic brand that is down for the count?

They (Larson) make pontoons also ..

From the press release :

"Today Polaris Inc. announced it has made the strategic decision to focus its marine investments and growth efforts on its flagship boating brands. As a result, Polaris will stop producing Rinker, Striper and Larson FX boat brands at its Syracuse, Indiana plant in June."

I couldn't find the Larson boat site .. runabouts / deck boats / cruisers.

https://boatingindustry.com/news/2019/01/30/marquis-yachts-announces-new-strategic-vision/

"Parmentier went on to say that since the company is no longer in the small boat business, Marquis Yachts LLC will now be able to concentrate the efforts of all its skilled employees and resources to these three brands which best fit the evolving global marine market.  The expected result is increased market share and profitability, he said."

I'm curious when they moved to fishing boats exclusively and the Larson Fx moniker.

They closed down the Little Falls manufacturing plant in 2016, moving the Larson production to Pulaski WI. The Marquis-Larson Boat Group continued to build a full line of Larson Boats including Runabouts, Water Sports and the FX Fishing boats. Hannay's shows three Larson series for 2019.

Marquis-Larson put Larson up for sale in December of 2018 and Polaris bought the assets in January 2019. Polaris moved the FX manufacturing to Indiana. I'm going to guess that Polaris never manufactured anything but the FX fishing boats before pulling the plug just a year after acquiring the marque.
