V179 coming along-next phase
« on: July 05, 2019, 02:00:13 PM »
I was able to finish the paint today-but I may still go back and fix some runs and I still have to put the swoosh on. I discovered that when I was pouring my A/B foam last year I had blocked one of the channels that I made in the bottom of the boat for drainage, I have tried everything to clear it and what ended up working to remove the blockage was a drain snake that I epoxied a drill bit onto. After the swoosh is put on and dries I will put the rub rail back on and start the inside -dash-vinyl matt-stereo-upholstery and so on

Ingenuity at it's finest.  The pour foam expands into everything, sometimes in places you didn't want it to.   Will the interior and other items next, will you be completed to be on the water this season?

working on the interior but I'm not sure what surprises await me in the engine...I wish it could be on the water soon but we will see, meantime-restoring the Glastron swirl today... all be it somewhat different. Made some templates for the dash also for just in case I have to build my own on a blank piece of stainless steel. I am planning on using a Conroy dash but have only seen one for sale in the last several months

I have to admit ......I do like it even though it was the yellow before which was kind of rare. I thought about a yellow gold metal flake but looking into it I found it too hard to acheive

I like the grey! Looks sharp. Starts to look like a single unit again once the rub rail is back on!

score.... found the dash I want to use at a decent price. It took me several months to find this after 3 were on the market all at once and I waited too long. I may have to do some cleaning and buffing but the description says it all works!

rub rail inserts on and sealed and vinyl carpet fitted and cut...just have to trim it and glue it down. Moving slow-just got back from prospecting gold claims in Idaho

I sure hope you'll consider making the trip to MN sometime!  I'd love to see this in person!

I would very much like to make one of the events!--perhaps some time in the future. Here is the placement of some of the furniture, I will put the side upholstery in after I mark these seat bases and back boxes---after that stereo-speakers chrome hubs for the steering wheel-dash and glove box and other interior stuff

Doing a great job on this restore. I also like the grey color on side of boat with the white top & interior, really coming together nicely. Can't see clearly the steering wheel you are using, but is it like the one in this picture?  If you need the brushed stainless inserts, i've got some for you.

so...most of the interior is in. I still have not secured in the front seats--but marked them out-- as I need to do this dash and other electronics and the gas tank. I will be asking questions on the dash soon in another post. The dash I am using is from a Conroy and as far as I can tell it uses the same wire color codes and I hope the same basic wiring set up as the V179. I plan to run a junction/fuse box below and just connect the like wires above and below the box. Thanks to Glen Hastings for the steering wheel Glastron Logo insert and Glastron Replica ( Thorman ) for the spoke inserts.

Looks great !
If you go here and click  "1979" from the drop down, you can get a basic wiring diagram for late 70's Glastrons.

I thought about putting in bucket seats when I redid my v179 and put in a bench seat.
