We are planning to crash rock the garden at boom island, inaccessible from the rest of the river system as it is north of Saint Anthony Falls.
It looks like we will have a view of both stages from the river

I can make it.
-
Where will you launch? looks like they are taking over the ramp lot.
-
Looks like there is a lunch under the 42nd bridge.
-
Yes, 42nd St.
The ramp is decent, concrete but there is no dock and beaching is going to be difficult. gravel and boulders. But we did scope it out last weekend and I'm confident we can get it done. Depth is good.

Maybe I should've started my own thread, sorry Greg

Dave and I are launching at Lions levee (St. Paul park) for a run down and up Miss. , weather permitting ..
Sat. 18th about 10:00 - 10:30.
For me this is first time out in eleven months ...
-
We'll be heading out of Hastings around 11:30 ish and heading up the st. Croix to Kinni. depending on traffic, going farther up to Hudson or down to the sand dunes by T.I. Maybe both?
-
Would love to but the boat still won't start. :'(

Was surprised how warm it was today, phone says 86 degrees ... Feels like 96 degrees ...
First time out in 11 months ... and dead battery ... luckily Dave had jumper cables ...
Started fine two weeks ago ...
Calm water on the river, few boats and barges and spots with HUGE dead heads !
Something knocked my speedo pick up tube off my LU in about 1 mile.
I got 53.7 mph and Dave whooped me with a 54.3 mph ...
Can't wait till next time ...

Nice, glad you guys had a great time
Yeah the river is an awesome vantage point for the concert

I invited my neighbor Mark to come along. Mark is an avid fisherman. Met Gregg at 10 AM and launched at Levee Lions Park in South St. Paul. Like Gregg said, there was a lot of debris in the water so Gregg, the gentlemen he is, wanted me to lead. He does not have a good track record. His boat and prop are a magnet for deadheads. Went to the Hastings Dam, turned around, went through downtown St. Paul onto the junction of the Minnesota and the Mississippi Rivers, parked the boats on the sandy beach and eat lunch. Trip was 59 miles, my top speed was 54.3 MPH at about 5,200 RPM. Was running a 22" Raker. With a 20" Raker the RPM's would be about 5,600, still an acceptable limit. Next Saturday is the boat show at Hannay's. After every boating trip now, I get the scum off with a hull cleaner and wash down the bow and the top of the boat. Thanks Gregg and Mark for the good time. At lunch, the conversation was medical operations, medical tests, pills, and aches and pains - we must be getting old.

Oh, and it is not urban folklore that there is a giant rock just north of psycho Suzies

Any hull or skeg damage?
-
Been there, done that last year. Looks like a few dings, skeg looks intact. A little touch up should be OK, but I'm no prop expert. No idea where psycho Suzie's is, but if a big rock exists, I'm surprised someone doesn't mark it or move the rock? Overall sounds like a great time was had, except for the damage.
-
A small spot of gelcoat scraped off the keel, and one small chip in the Skagg.
Sad thing is, it was marked, or at least there was a pseudo-buoy in the area. but it was dark and I lost my bearings.
For as many miles as We have put on the river, I think it's pretty good that this is the first thing I've ever hit
