Title: Looking for a outboard motor for my CV-16
Post by: Waterwolf on March 01, 2021, 04:35:39 PM
So I have a Evinrude 85 I got for cheap and is missing linkage and a few other items. So not sure if I should look into hunt and seek parts or does anyone have a suggestion for a different direction for propulsion.

thanks

The group will probably be able to guide you; can you tell us what state you are in, that will help.

What year is the motor?
And post a picture of which part you need. I have a Lotta parts mostly in the 73 to 77 range

The Johnson/Evinrude's are good motors. Should be easy to get parts for.
You might have trouble getting a shop to work on a older motors, but if you can do it yourself that wouldn't be a problem.
It (85 HP) would have enough power to pull skier or tubers, and get about mid 40's for top speed.
If your motor has tilt & trim that would be a huge plus.

Do you know the year built ?  If not post the serial number ...

If you like to work on stuff .. old motor is cool.
If you want something reliable and don't like messing with stuff, you might want something newer or rebuilt / running.

Are you in Minnesota? What horsepower are you looking for?

From one of her old posts ..
She's in Wisconsin.

Looks like it has motor mount holes for older Mercury.
