My brother and I were very lucky to get a matching pair of 1971 Honda 70’s.  And even more lucky to have a dad that put them up in the attic when we out grew them....   thanks dad, we took them out a few years back and got them running again which all it took was cleaning the carbs and getting rid of all the old gas and cleaning the points. I can’t tell you how much fun they still are... we use them every year now when our town has its “defeat of Jessy James days” to get around.

Nice!

4 speed models too!

I’ve bought and sold a dozen or so of them years ago, back when they were cheap.  They are a hot ticket these days, I still have a 1970 3speed model.  I’ll never sell it.

I look at this one every day .. and think .. should I buy it ?

1973 Honda SL 125 - $900 (Zimmerman)
https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/csw/mcy/d/zimmerman-1973-honda-sl-125/7025770279.html

Hmmmm.

Depends what you want to use it for??  If you just want to run around the neighborhood it’ll work fine, up until about 45 mph.  Then the vibration gets to be a bit much, and the engine strains at any higher sustained speed.  Even the 350/360 series of 2 cylinder machines strain above 55; they will do about 75-80 but they are simply not made for that highway speed. The 350 Four or CB500/550 Four will both do 75mph all day long and as smooth as silk.  Of course the CB750 is the King, the earlier the year the more in demand and higher value.

And then if you want to teach kids to ride, a CT70 is the way to go.  The 3speed centrifugal clutch models are easy for anyone to learn on.  And they will take you and a kid straight up a steep incline and runs at 30mph comfortably.  I love those little machines, and so do others ($1500-2500 for decent ones).

I finally had more than a few minutes to look, most impressive indeed.  Your work is beyond my abilities.

Thanks for the compliment. I started restoring and collecting over 20 years ago when our son left the nest.....all the trips to ball practice, games, and other events teenagers keep us busy with were gone. I missed my fishing partner, so I resorted to my favorite activity before starting my family-motorcycle riding and building. One turned into two, then 30, then just one more, and again. Gordon

Interesting read Gordon ..
Awesome collection of some very cool bikes !
I've rode some of the bikes you have, and still also remember the torque of the Yamaha 650 twin, which at the time was the largest bike I had ever ridden.
My favorite was the Yamaha 350's .. Owned a R5, RD350 & a RZ350.

Oh yea, I love the 650 Yamaha Twins, had 3 of them. The R5C is a 1972 3,100 mile original paint bike. The 1985 GPZ750E Turbo is the most remarkable bike I've ever restored/owned - not the fastest for sure, but remarkable. As docile and easy to ride as 500 Four below 5,000 rpm and 50 mpg - then a raging monster of 120 horses at 14 lbs boost when over 5,000 rpm and throttle opened. PeeWee Gleason turned a 10 second quarter at the end of 11 runs and said then that he never launched it perfectly - Too much throttle and the tire would blister, too little and it would bog. Loved that bike and regret selling one of the very few left of the 2,200 made.

WOW, just WOW!

I had a Kawasaki H1 back in the early 70’s; I definitely do not need to ride that machine again. For those not familiar, it is a first generation crotch rocket, with all the handling characteristics of a freight train. 😀

Gordon, you have serious skills.

David, the Red/White Striped 1970 MACH III (H1) you see in the lower right of the group photo above is one of short swingarm models (1969 ~ 1972) and wheelies would happen anytime you opened the throttle in 1st or 2nd and 5,000 rpm was anywhere close by. I've owned/restored 3 of the H1's and 5 of the H2's (MACH IV/750's). The 1969 MACH III/500's was the fastest production machine you could buy - bike or car. 110 mph and 12.1 second quarter right out of the box.

One of the 3 H2's I bought in a bundle was beat up and the engine case was cracked and not usable. I decided I wanted a Drag Bike, so I built an extended swingarm 3" over and sent the replacement engine to a shop in New York for a Stage 3 build....163 horsepower at the crank at 9,000 rpm. It's the Green 1974 H2B shown here. Careful what you wish for.......while it made stupid power at 9,000 rpm that would just shread the back tire, it would not pull slack out of your pants at 6,000 or even 7,000 rpm. Having a piston ported drag engine that I wanted to ride on the street was one of my worst mistakes I ever made in restoring. Gordon

I have had a few vehicles of note over the years, Laurie's dad "Earl" had a hand in all of them, and painted all of them with exception of the "Flame Ranger"

in the early 80' with Earl's help i put together a 72 comet, i dropped a 302/4 speed in it, it was fun and fast.

In 2000 something i had an 87 ranger that Earl had fixed up the body and panted after i cast it aside. shortly after the 2.3 died a horrible death and i fit a 5.0 HO/T5 5 speed in it, it was from an 89 mustang with mass air and an A9L ECU. eventually a 8.8 373 posi from an explorer ended up under it. this truck was also fast and fun to drive, ran it as my daily driver for many years. rust took its toll on that one as well, i did start restoring it (bought an 89 for the chassis) and Earl had found a rust free body. that one has been sitting in the driveway for several years as i have been more focused on boat projects lately.

and the 99 ranger (flame ranger) that will hit the road shortly, Earl picked it up originally for me to drop the 5.0 from the orig V8 ranger in it, but plans changed, it got a 4.0 DOHC and a really sweet paint job thanks to Shawn.

of any of them this project was by far my favorite, A 1970 GMC 4WD pickup
one day in the mid 80's when we went up to "the farm" (Laurie's mom and dads place) this truck was sitting in the yard.
Earl had bought it to fix up, i some how convinced him that i needed to have it, and with his help we restored it. the last pix is what it looked like the day i got it out of the shop.
it went through many changes over the years, i ran it hard off road and eventually it went from 1/2 ton axles (dana 30/12 bolt) to 3/4 ton (dana44/14bolt) with welded on trusses. and from a 4 speed GL to a turbo 400 tranny. had a mild 350 that had many different carbs over the years but ended up with a Holley projection that worked best for hill climbing.
i ran it hard for about 15 years before the rust took its toll (it was a daily driver). it still sits in the feild up at the farm cuz i cant bear to actually part with it.

Looking at Gordon's great collection, Back in 1980 after I had moved to Daytona Fla for collage. I started road racing bikes. Your Water Buffalo brings up fond memories of the first motorcycle I repeatedly ran over 160mph. Yes it was modified and it was one damn strong machine.
Guess I should get some of my stuff on here in particular my 1975 Ducati 750 Sport. I have an assortment of mid '60s to early 80s Suzuki's as well.

The R5 was my first street bike, great little bike until my brother crashed it.
Got a RD350 that had been crashed and fixed it up. Didn't look perfect but ran great.
Two of my Buddy's had the yellow Kenny Robert's RZ's so I got the red and white version with rear seat cowl, looked pretty racy back then, before all the full fairing bikes.
Got a set of "All Speed" expansion chamber's and spent days getting the jetting right, but was worth the effort .. I could beat most 750 bikes. It had the "YPVS" exhaust valve so porting wasn't a option, at least back then.
Also added SS breaded front brake lines, fancy brake pads and some sticky Metzeler tires for better stoppie's .. LOL
Not the best handling bike .. But motor was crazy fun !
The one bike I should have never sold .. Still regret selling it ..

Not my picture, but looks the same ..

Had the 2017 Honda Accord Coupe three years now (17,200 miles). Not a believer in customizing, but improving. Modifications include a bigger, round shaped gear shifter from another Honda model, magnetic oil drain plug, smoother shifting manual transmission oil, and Honda factory splash guards front and back.

Here's what my Dad had in the 60s-I really liked it ( of course I was pretty small then and the back seat seemed spacious ) Dad traded it in for a Mercedes-go figure

I was on the hunt for a car with a tow hitch when a friend told me he knew where one has been sitting for quite some time. I was actually looking for something all wheel drive but just couldn’t pass this one. It has been sitting in a garage since 1998 until I bought it 2 weeks ago. Old battery, old fuel. Attached a power bank and gave the carb something to drink and it fired up right the first try. Gotta love the good old American engineering. Engine has been beefed up quite a bit as this thing pulls hard for a SBC.
Paint looks like someone did it in their backyard but it’s alright for a daily. Will get a new, the original, paint job this winter. It used to be Chevy brown gold... So a great match for the Timmi. Will post pics when it’s done.
