MEET HOT KNOTS.....
« on: November 06, 2011, 03:23:33 PM »
Picked her up in Phoenix this morning.  She is a 1984 and I bought her from the 2nd owner whom had owned her for 22 years.  She is all original.  She will probably not be a project this winter as I am having a shoulder replacement in a few weeks and won't be able to do anything with it for a few months.  I will drag her back to Oklahoma for OleRed to view and help me winterize and then store until spring.  I wish it was spring.

Looks like it's in great shape. Interior looks fine. Is it a CV27? Ole Red will be able to check all the components out, including the engine.

David - That's a 'later' style CV-23, just like Lawson's...

Looks like someone came back from the meet with a hankering for a day cruiser!

What's it got for a motor?

Beautiful boat Barb, congrats on a great original find!  Good luck on the shoulder surgery too.  (Bet Red would take care of the "Sun Devil" moniker for you, while you're healing up.)   ;D

Looks like your review went well as planned Barb.  Wish I had been there to see you.  Headed back in the next day or so?  Could be a bit slower drive home than it was headed west!!  Did you get a chance to lake test it?

Congrats Barb! I like the CV23's with the windshiled like yours because it gives you the ability to install a camper canvas and use the boat as an overnighter if desired.

I'm incredibly biased...but real nice find Barb! The hull seems to be in great shape - hopefully it runs as good as it looks! I just buried mine in a barn for the winter this past weekend. Winter sucks, if you didn't know  >:(

Hope you can bring it up here next year!

Boat looks suweet Barb!

Good luck with your surgery. Hey what're you gonna do with the old shoulder. Wouldn't happen to be the left one? Gotta be in better shape than mine. Swap ya for some used slightly dented V153 parts ...?

Thanks guys, long day on the road.  Made it as far as Santa Rosa NM and just got checked into the motel.  Have to get it home and pay for my spare parts before I can decide what spare parts she gets.  I will have all winter and part of spring of think about it, but right now I'm thinking she needs to stay as close to original as possible. Gotta have some new tunes though, that cassette player has to go.  The only thing that has been done to her is a ship to shore radio otherwise she is just like she was the day she left the dealer.  Oh and the color is copper not red.  I will have her over to OleReds house on Wednesday and will know more about her then..

You're making good time Barb, I think you'll miss the weather if you don't leave out early, but you're missing the show here, torential rain, wind, dime size hail, and another Earthquake, I think this one was stronger than the one Saturday nite, this one slid my coffey cup on my computer desk a little, the third earthquake in the last 6 days.  I HATE direct TV ... when a storm come's in, the TV go's Off  !

Gil ... if I can talk her into spending $15,000 we'll have it running like the one in the video link you posted, thats the one in Canada built 3 years ago, 83mph,  that baby has a professionally built small block chev 434ci 500hp plus a 150hp shot of NOS, a Bravo drive.

Well I dragged her over to OleReds house yesterday and he winterized her.  I don't think the plugs in the exhaust manifolds and the engine block had ever been pulled out of her before.  This boat came from Phoenix Az. and the previous owner of 22 years had always kept her in his barn.  I suppose that with the desert climate there was no need to drain and winterize.  OleRed got the plugs out, drained the manifolds and engine and filled her up with -50 RV antifreeze.  I vacuumed the carpet and cleaned the interior, and bought her a new canvas cover yesterday.  Next week I will tow her 100 miles south to Lake of the Arbuckles and park her under the carport at my lake cabin and wish her well til spring.

OleRed gave her his seal of approval, and this one will not be getting one of his rocket engines (unless I decide I want him to build something stronger for Burnin Daylight then the 357 in her would go into this CV23).  KNOT.

I wonder if that 'Sun Devil' has kept that part from fading and will need to be a permanent fixture on the boat?

I was going to ask how the Toyota did towing the CV-23...but I see it didn't!
