Snake Island, you sure talk about  it a lot?  One of our trips you'll have to take me by there.  We didn't make the pilgrimage this year, just doesn't feel right Doug.   Know what I mean?

Steve aka MTL_CVX & Judy on Snake a few years ago. Normally we have a 2 Canadian limit on the island but I was able to persuade the Mayor to lift the sanctions for a few hours. Judy is actually not Canadian, God bless her ...  But there was already another couple from Toronto on the island & Steve being there would've exceeded the limit. Hence my lobbying the Mayor for special dispensation ...

You'd really have to visit to put Snake Island into words. Tiny island just inside the Venice inlet. Was bigger 'fore they sucked all the sand from around it to replenish the beach in front of the condos. Now the island is disappearing at an alarming rate.

Fwiw the Snake Island Republic ceceeded & declared it's independence from the United States several years ago. A Mayor was elected, director of homeland security appointed, public information officer, etc. Invoking the Helsinki treaty the commisioners declared any & all property within a three mile radius subject to taxation. Collecting aforementioned taxes isn't going all that well. The republic carries on regardless!

What sets Snake Island apart is it's classified as a govt "spoil". Meaning it falls under the jurisdiction of the 'corpse' of engineers. Not the state or county or city cops. In 20 yrs I've only seen one cop dare set foot on the island. And he was given the bum's rush ...

Sometimes celebrities drop by, that's Jack Link to my right.

I agree about getting old more and more.  Leg ortho told me if I were younger I would probably heal completely, put, good chance I'll never get back to where I was before the break.  That was about 3 months ago.  Last visit to the shoulder otho, and more good news...?The nerves may never heal all the way either.  He did how ever, give me one heck of a script!!!?  Occupational therapy.....I was seeing a therapist for over 4 months doing "low impact"? therapy 3 times a week for 2 hours, plus home therapy 2 times a day also.  The new therapy started off at 3 hours a day, 3 days a week, already to 4 hours a day 3 days a week, and heading to 5 hours a day 5 days a week..... heck 3 hours in one day is more work than I'm use to doing in a normal week at work, and that's clocking 50 hrs!  (well, that's what I keep telling them)

In a bizarre new development this pic just posted on the Snake Island Republic's facebook page clearly shows the Mayor joining the movement? Going as far as to protest his own salary?!

Considering his is more of an honorary title, and to the best of my knowledge is not compensated, I suspect it's just for the cameras? Fyi the shirtless gentleman is the Mayors buddy, the disgraced ex Director of Home Island Security. He was appointed by the Mayor, against advisement, but forced to resign after being implicated in a sexual harassment scandal involving several women ...

I will asess the situation tomorrow afternoon & issue a status report ...
