There's one on the river I frequent that has a 502 in it. I was facing the other direction setting up the rope for my nephew to ski and about 200 yards behind me is a curve with a no wake zone. I could hear the thunder of the exhaust and was expecting to see a Fountain or Skater..................Nope, rounding the bend was a red and black 20+ foot party barge.  Quite impressive.

Got one of those running around here on the Susquehanna River with a 350 and thru hull that is low and only exposed when it's on plane... But that's the funny part. How often do you see a pontoon truly "on plane"? I kinda laugh every time I see it, but only because it's kinda strange, not because it isn't cool. I had considered building a flat bottom third pontoon with an I/O V8 to bolt under the center of mine, but the only downfall is you can't go in as shallow, and our sandbar is a gradual incline, and I like being in pretty far in the shallow water.

I'd like to find a 'toon like that after a 100 year old oak tree fell on it. I've got something that could put that 350 MAG EFI to much better use! ;D

20k isn't bad considering that it's pushing 600 ponies. Figure about 30k - 35k for the motors.  I just saw a new Yamaha F300 at the dealer, on sale of course, for the very affordable price of $23,895.00.

A friend of mine has a 2007'ish Yam 300 that he installed computer tuner and a hi flow air box and turned out 342 on the dyno sheet at the prop.  Damn impressive.

There's one outa Tennessee, I believe, that has 3 300hp Mercs on it. Been clocked at over 100mph. Yikes!

Hear ya Wex it is a strange sight indeed to see one going fast. You just don't normally see that type of behavior from a poontoon? 'Least not around here ...

Ya hard to describe what goes on with a pontoon hull. I reckon you'd call it a 'displacement' hull at low speeds, like all boats. I honestly dunno the physics of what happens when ya get em goin fast. It's not displacing the water anymore but is it actually 'planing'? I guess it is but then again not really. Hmmm

Quite the modification under there to house that. I wonder if he started with an I/O or built it  from scratch?
Quite a site to see someone skiing behind a toon.
