First Time Out
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:20:43 AM »
Got to go to the lake yesterday,  George took his V-192 out for the first time,  that boat has been sitting for about 10 years, George has been giving it a make-over, looks great, run out perfectly, nice boat.
Barb took Burnin Daylight out for the first time with the new drive.  Big Dan i Arizona built the drive with the 1.32 gear ratio, and it ran out perfect, cool, quiet, and performed well.  It was hard for Barb not to hammer on it, but she was real good, and it was Real hard for her, and me, not to hit it just one time, but Dan asked .. several times, that we give the gears a couple hours break-in time befor we run it out.

Here's the stats :
2800 rpm -- 41 mph
3000 rpm -- 45 mph
3500 rpm -- 55 mph
4000 rpm -- 62 mph

The hole shot suffered some, but layed on plane @ 2500 rpm
Throttle response from 2600 to 4000 rpm was instatanious, really impressing

Interesting.  I made a comment on this board about breaking in gears a few months ago.  I was told gears that are properly set up do not need to be broken in.

That is Lake Arcadia. Located on historical route 66. It's a little local lake for the suburb Edmond OK where I live. That's about 5 miles from my house.  It was a little choppy for me, but this is Oklahoma where the wind comes sweeping across the lake.  Georges' little boat was handling the chop really well. He's got a little gem there.

What size motor is on the V192? Looks like it's moving pretty good!

I do remember a thread about breaking in the motor, between turn 2 and turn 3, but about breaking in a set of gears, I feel like I better follow the request from the fellow that built the drive,  I don't do that kind of work, so I got to leave that to the fellows that do.

George was turning 5000 rpm on that first video,  running 50 mph on his gps,  it's a 175hp Evinrude.
