Enough guys.

This thread is about Erik's CV-23, let's help him get back on the water and up to Red Wing!

I'll just say this, you are both well qualified mechanics who've both helped many of us (including me) get back on the water.  Let's not take each other's recommendations so personally!

Let's take the focus off each other and get back to helping Erik.

alas Red I wish she was worked out - I don't have a high confidence level on moving forward without  "f-ing" shift cables up (ask anyone at Rathbun & they'll vouch for my incompetence! :-/ ......actually I'm praying you fellas don't remove my Glastron Ownership Card...100% NO JOKE! )  She floats, she starts,  and  can get from Point A to Point B (just turn key to shift) - right now, unless anyone things I'm completely bonkers,  I think I'll just run her as is until Red Wing & maybe bug some of you guys up there?

Once again everyone's help is sincerely appreciated!
Erik

Teleflex now makes a transom shift cable called "extreme" (I Think)......If it is like the Extreme control cables it will have a jacketed core wire that works better in tight bends etc. Has anybody tried one of these? We use the control cables on all our kicker motor installs due to the tight bend because the motor is at the edge of the splashwell.

May not be relevant, but I installed the Teleflex Extreme control cables on my Mercury Outboard ----- I don't have any clue as to how old the original cables were, but MAN, what a difference!  Smooth as butter.  I use to have to pull the throttle back darn near neutral just to ease up and slow down.  Problem was I'd go from WOT to almost neutral.  Now, even slight movement at the controls gets a response from the motor.

I don't have any experience with other brands, but I'd be happy as all get out to buy another Teleflex Extreme product if it's needed on another project.  I called and ordered straight from Teleflex.  Maybe spent $50.

Thanks for the 15% discount Don !
Worked GREAT !

Feel your pain iowaCV-23, for every one thing I fix ...I break two ... LOL
Give it a try, if you can't get it you can alway bring it in to a dealer/shop.
If you do fix it ... you get a good feelin' and the confidients to try the next thing that breaks ... and there's always something breakin' on old boats !

bit the bullet & took her to the marina - turns out the interrupter switch wasn't connected to the distributor, so I've got a good spare one now..which I was told are hard to come by!...anyway, thank you very much for your help!  I'm going to run her this weekend, sit back, and wait to see what will happen next (using reverse psychology LOL)

Thanks again - most appreciated!

Honestly Erik...you want your boat to be in good working order for the trip down the river in August.  Its a different thing being on the river, IMO, much more fun!

SO...that's great news that you're up and working!

Careful Doran! You don't want to jinx him!

Seriously though, glad you're back up and running safely Erik. Happy boating to you!
