Best place to buy new prop?
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:54:57 PM »
Hey guys,

The current prop on the CVX-16 has seen better days and it's time to get a new one.  The best prop I've used so far is a 17 pitch, 13.25" aluminum Mercury prop.  That's probably what I'll end up getting again.  Is there anything else to keep in mind about where to buy or brand, or should I just go to Boaters Outlet and pick up another 17 pitch Mercury?

Thanks for the links - I knew there had to be a better place to shop!

We do a lot of deep water slalom skiing so hole shot is probably the number 1 priority.  The boat originally came with a 19 pitch.  That had some issues planing out so we went a littler smaller.  It's an OMC Stringer 400, but I'm pretty sure it's running the same 17 pitch prop I took off the old Mercury 115 Tower.

I have my eye on this one:

I talked to Mark at Mark's prop shop in Stacy. Good to deal with and will swap till you get what you're looking for. He had the prop I wanted, but sold it before I could get there. Also Jerry Sellner has a bunch of props. Give him a call. The price will be right.
