I removed the 5 pieces of windscreen from the V175 today because of "checking" and plan on replacing them but when I took them out, I discovered that the two panels, in front of the helm and passenger are actually glass! I expected them to all be plexiglass or the like. I can see no writing on it and I dont know if they had tempered glass in the 70's so I am wondering what this is. Obviously, these are not checked but I am not sure I want to put these back in. Not sure what they'd do if they shattered and besides, they are much heavier then say, polycarbonate or something similar.
Thoughts?
I'd also like to replace the rubber channel that holds it in place. I've looked at Trim-Lok and Austin Hardware listed in the Vendor resource list but you have to buy mass quantities from Trim-Lok and Austin appears to be a wholesaler and only sell to other business'? Thats the impression I get when I tried to request a catalog because the site doesnt give a very good description and only some pics of what the "glass channel" they carry looks like.
