Yes by the throttle control. I was thinking of putting mine in the dash (to fill a hole) but I dont think the lanyard should be pulled at 90 degrees. It is plastic after all. I put mine right under the mounting plate for the throttle but that might not work so well with an outboard control box that protrudes. The one built into my Merc control on the 163 is right on the rear of the control box.

If you put it on the dash you could get tangled when steering. on the side behind the controls is the best place, That's where all mine are.
