Another Facebook use:

"Marketplace"

There is starting to evolve a serious competitor to Craigslist on "for sale" items . . . I like it.  Simply type in what you are looking for and adjust the settings for how far away you are willing to travel, and up it comes, similar to Craigslist.  Except with Marketplace the first message to the buyer is always a simple message within Facebook.  And the real caveat is one can "creep" on the intended buyer/seller before the meet.  A quick glance at their Facebook page tells one a lot about your counterpart.

As far as moving this forum to Facebook, I think not.  A lot of historical procedures/knowledge would be lost in the process.

For sure...it is nice to have an idea of who you're dealing with when buying.

Just reserved the name...its the clubs and no one can squat and pretend to be us.

Lot of G/C's for sale on Facebook with no easy way to link them in GCOTD thread.
Most have no direct link. Unless I'm missing something ..
I'm going to look into "Marketplace" Dave .. Thanks for the idea.

To me Facebook is like a car accident ... No matter how hard I try ... I have to look ... LOL
It a roller coaster of emotions .. Laugh, cry, anger, etc.
We have got a few new member thru Facebook.

It is a great place to share baby pictures with family and friends !

If you right-click on the time posted (in this case, "19 hours") it will give you a pull down and you can copy link location and paste elsewhere.  I think people need to be in the group to be able to click/see it though.

OK ... Thanks Laurie !
Pretty sure you have to be a member of the closed groups to see it.

I'll try linking marketplace posts ...

The Facebook Marketplace posts will still be pretty limited as the furthest they will allow you to search is 100 miles from your center point.  As we have seen most of us are willing to go great distances for the dream machine.

Search Tempest on Craigslist is still gong to be the gold standard i believe.

Yep ... 100 mile limit.
Linking not working from Marketplace.
Got it in my bookmarks, will check from time to time.

1/2 the time I think the for sale ads are coming from your GOTD thread Gregg...just keep doing what you're doing.

FWIW I use the CSmart app for craigslist, you can select as many cities as you want to search in. And save the searches.

It's fine, you're not the only one.  Think there's 8-10 requests to join sitting out there now.  I don't want folks upset if I decline them, so just going to let them sit.

I've picked up a lot of great tips on Facebook ...
Use coconut butter to bring back the shine to faded flake !
Almost every Glastron is the boat that made the jump in the Bond movie.
Etc.   Etc.   Etc.

And sometimes, just sometimes, it’s fun to mess with people. Marketplace has been 50/50 for me. I picked up a VW airplane engine (really!) and flipped it for a $1500 profit, but just the other day a guy called me a dickhead scammer asking him to ship a $22 rc airplane engine, using a PayPal invoice. He was 100 miles away, and I didn’t want to drive that far...

Incorrect. Use Vaseline ...  (I've actually seen this done.)

I have doubts that we need another Glastron facebook site. We already have Classic Glastron Owners, Glastron Carlson Powerboats Fun Club, and Glastron CVX.CV, besides the local and national Classic Glastron Owners Association sites. Then there are the narrowly focused sites, such as Glastron Jetflite, GT150, and Glastron Carlson CSS Owners. And the broad ones such as High Performance Boating, Strictly OMC, Inline 6 Mercury, Classic Boats, Vintage Boat Restoration, and Scream and Fly.

When I have pictures to post of my boat, I choose facebook Classic Glastron Owners, which seems to be the most popular.

By choosing to be notified of new facebook postings I am connected with, means I must scroll through many postings that I am not interested in.

Can we somehow simplify life without cutting out the meaningful parts?

But Doran did the right thing by owning a facebook name that can not be used by another group.
