update-V179 project
« on: February 24, 2019, 11:30:48 AM »
So because of the weather---not as bad as most of you!----I have been just ordering parts and stock piling them for the end of winter-which will be soon I hope. Today it will hit 40 degrees.... so I have hope. I may even get out and work on it today. Here is my growing pile of stuff...some of my best finds...a bow cap...3 stainless steel type inserts for the steering wheel...bucket seats...entertainment system and led lights...new bilge pump system...vinyl floor matting-and so much more, some is out in the garage. Again I thank all that have helped me find leads for this material I have a lot of upholstery material also that I purchased for this spring build out

Planning and preparing are mandatory for success.  The project will really take off when the weather breaks now that you're armed with the tools, knowledge, and materials to get it done.   Hope you get on the water early in the season.   Summers always seem too short.  Thanks for the update.

the weather is getting nicer. It hit 55 last week and I was able to finish 99% of the sanding. It is raining and 40 today but as soon as we hit 55 or 60 I will fill in the small pinholes and bumps and re-sand again and then go with some brush on primer

Weathers still nice but not too warm-cut out both of my rear bench seats- but I have to wait for the temp to go up to put them in ( for the glue and fiberglass ) the seats will be painted white to match the front seats

a interesting note...I still had my old stringers in the garage and I was cutting them up to fit in the trash while doing the work on the bench seats. While cutting the stringers I noticed that they were rotted on the outside but solid on the inside. Not bad for 45 plus year old wood. This is what they looked like when I started taking them out

I thought I was ready to do some work but now we have 7 days of rain and snow, looks like most of you will get it too. Well at least my paint kit is here
