Our Daughter was taking our Granddaughter back to school in Fergus Falls and hit a patch of ice tonight.

A little shook up, and a couple bumps, but doing OK. Our oldest Daughter is going up to get them.

Glad everyone made it though, including the "mags".

X2 ! I try not to hate anything or anybody, so let's just say I detest winter! Y'all be careful up there, hear?
-
Holy Moly. That's crazy. Amazing how well a modern vehicle can protect the operator and passengers.
-
Glad everyone's safe!
-
Scary! Glad every is ok also.
I got a 2010 crown vic cop car that would make a GREAT tow vehicle!
-
Thanks Jason, but I like Jim's idea better. I need 4 wheel drive.
Jenny got home at 5 O'clock this morning, after being up over 24 hours.
-
" Thanks Jason, but I like Jim's idea better "
Did you win the lottery Jerry ?

That's about 10 years newer than what I was looking at, but it would be cool.
-
Glad ro hear everyone is OK Jerry. I worked for Kustom Karriers out of Hopkinns part-time for close to 10 years and learned it doesn't take much to roll a vehicle. A lot of people think trucks roll over soo much easier than cars, but let me tell you, they(cars) roll over pretty easy to. And I'm guessing everyone is OK because they were buckled in.
Oh and save your money on that tarted up Tahoe and just get the real thing!...LOL
-
Wow hope all's is well, pretty scary for Grandpa... should I be in the market, I would consider the Chrysler Aspen, seems to be a good value for a large SUV.
-
The adjuster is going to look at it. I should know by the weekend how much I can spend.
-
I saw this on FB the other day. Glad everyone was ok. A roll over has got to be scary.
I think anything will roll if you hit a patch of ice, go sideways then hit a dry spot.
So its totaled I assume. Too bad. That was a nice vehicle and you had gotten a deal on it. Hope you make out decent with the insurance end of it.
-
I like it. We'll know more Tuesday or Wednesday

Me too!
-
Me three.
You will be keeping the gas station in business with that one.
-
i love the color if i am right its 5.4 liter which 14 city 18 hwy not bad considering my frontier gets the same mileage. Hope it all works out.
Tom

Me 4
I have a 2002 F150 Super Crew, great truck 125k still runs great, 4.6, gas mileage not great at all, needs to run on mid range gas...But I love that old truck....

I doubt that a Lincoln Mark LT could be bought with the smaller V8...most probably a 5.4L.
-
Nice truck Jerry, hope it works out for you. My '05 Super Cab F-150 has the 4.6L, avg 17 mpg. Pulling the boat doesn't effect the mileage at all, probably because I tend to take it a little "easier" when towing? I don't believe there's much difference in the two motors when it comes to mileage, unless you're towing really heavy loads. Best truck I've ever owned!
-
It's a 5.4 SHO. Been doing some carfax checking. Never used it before. interesting reading.
-
Fueleconomy.gov is a pretty accurate list of fuel economy for cars. You can compare motors too. All 5.4s are SOHC. Starting in 05 or 06 they went to a 3 valve 5.4 SOHC that made 300hp. I just had an 06 expedition with that motor and it was surprisingly quick. Good luck Jerry!
-
What?
Jerry looking at a ford?
I need to re-read that lol....
-
Maybe not. I learned how to use carfax. What a tool! Here's some pictures from today. They cleaned it out and pulled Dottie's ham plates.
The CDs stuck in the sun roof. they couldn't find the "EJECT" button

That does not look too bad. What's the insurance buy back price?
-
Oh yea, if you want $5 carfax reports let me know...I know a guy.
-

I agree, it looks repairable. But I am not a body guy.
-
She belongs to State Farm!
I can tell you the people at State Farm were the best I have ever worked with. Of course I have 4 cars, 3 boats, the House, and The Golf cart covered.
Wait till ya see the new tow car, NOT A FORD)
should close on that tomorrow.
-
Not a bad payment for the bravada IMO.
-
More than I paid for it a year ago.
-
I've been with State Farm for over 30 years...no complaints either...I wonder how they came up with the figure to include 46 cents...
J
-
It was top Blue Book, plus Sales Tax, and transfer, less $500.
Do the math I guess. lol
-
There is a reason why I have never been insured with anyone else but State Farm. Same agent until he passd away recently. Maybe wait for the blizzard to blow over if you plan on buying something with 4WD or AWD, they might be selling at a premium for the next day or two!...LOL
-
OK we just picked up the new tow car.

Very nice!!
-
Should be a good tow rig!
-
That should work, shouldn't be short on power w/hemi. And it has one of these you'll love it for hooking up!
(http://i94.photobucket.com/albums/l93/blinddate/IMG_1438.jpg) (http://s94.photobucket.com/user/blinddate/media/IMG_1438.jpg.html)
And another thing that should be standard on every vehicle built for towing:

Nice choice Jerry, I think the Aspen's are a great value in the for a large SUV market place...My wife has a Pacifica it's been a great car... You can never go wrong with a Hemi....
-
Kip, it's got every feature known to man, and some I didn't even knew about. Back-up cam for hooking up. Hadn't thought about that. I have to figure out how to hook the Blue Tooth up. The seller was when the salesman came out and started it with the remote starter. Dottie's always wanted that. We'll give it a workout in a month.
-
Trust me Dottie will love that remote start, and you too!
-
I think the GT160 would have looked better behind this Aspen:
-
It needs a HEMI
-
The Aspen will serve you well. I have the same thing, but mine says "Dodge" on it (Durango) but its the Hemi Limited and has all the same options. Nice thing is the 8,800 lb towing capacity and more than enough power to pull every pound of that and more. Comfortable ride, huge inside, excellent in snow, smokes import "tuner" cars, awesome sound system, and decent fuel mileage if you don't beat it all the time. I'm a Dodge fan and still wasn't even gonna test drive it because I didn't think it would compare to the Escalade or Denali, but I'm glad I drove it, couldn't be happier. Pulled my CSS-19 like a dream. Only SUV I'd take over it at this point would be a V-10 or diesel Excursion... but they're too big for the wife to drive.

That's funny, we just looked at a Suburban...my wife said we need to keep the Jeep...Suburban is too big for her to drive.
-
Doran
Try the reg version of the yukon/tahoe. After totaling the first yukon we rented a full size suburban and my wife like yours said it was to big. Went back the the reg yukon.
Would buy another if I had to, been very good to us with 149000 miles.,

Yep I would say check out the Tahoe or Yukon. Mine is a 99 old school 5.7 and is at 165,000 miles and still going strong.
-
My wife wouldn't drive anything as big as a Suburban either so we got the Tahoe. Which is good, because at old our house where she parked it for 4 years a 'burb would have never fit. Compared to my crew cab PU it's like driving a little sports car.
-
Well, since I recently gave up the Avalanche, which is essentially a Suburban, I know it'll fit. We looked at a couple Yukon XL's and a (used) Escalade today as well. Love the added creature comforts. If I'm gonna go back up to a full size SUV, it'll be for the added storage room the longer Suburban/Yukon XL/Escalade provides as there never seems to be enough!
My wife already has her own SUV, and drives my vehicle maybe 2x a year. Although she loves stealing the Jeep these days...we need a family truckster/land yacht/road crusier.
I'm not sure I want $120 fill ups on the 6.0L V8...nor did I like the way everything but the motor wore out on my Avy at 140k. I mean...everything...
We'll see...I'm in no hurry.
-
Doran, I used Carfax - find a used car. you get a good picture what's out there. I found 5-6 Aspens around here, but none as nice as this one. At least you get a picture of the market, and know if there was any funny business going on.

Oh, yep, I don't buy new cars of the lot, or any used car that was built in the first 2 years of it being a new model. Let someone else take the depreciation hit and work out all the new model kinks.
When I settled on the Jeep, I knew to avoid the Hemi on the '05 & '06 models as well as the Sunroof. Settled on the '08 w/4.7L I have now. If it only had more rear seat leg room...great for around town, but gets cramped on longer trips.

I'm with you, let someone take the depreciation, although I am looking at a 2103 Chrylser 200 right now, I would like to park the truck and save some gas...
-
I'm with you on the depreciation bit but the first brand new vehicle I ever owned I bought not because I wanted new but because inventory on the used market was low and resale values were high. I got tired of looking at junk that people wanted ridiculous money for. New was the way to go especially considering I drove it for 11 years and put a 197K on it. Never regretted that decision.
