Ok, agreed to purchase the Emerald Mist Metric C-512, aka Bar Fly. If you've been in the club long enough, you would have seen this at the meet a few years ago.
It has a few things that need to be done to it before the meet, so hopefully I'll be able to pull together a little help before then.

Yep, that's the 'stain' from some gas...don't think that will buff out...but it is what it is!
-
Last pictures are from the 2008 Red Wing meet ...
He must have fixed the gas filler stain / blotch.
Rear corner looks OK in other pictures.

Close ups from 2011's meet ...

One more ...
He must have done something ...
Looks OK in 2011 pictures ...

Looks great!

Pretty neat, congrats! Mugs Up to another in a series of the "best days of owning a boat" you have experienced recently, cheers!
-
Congrats Doran, great looking boat!
-
Cool D. What kinda mill's it got in it?

Congrats! Very nice!

Its just the 3.0L...hoping to change that down the line to the 4.3L V6.
-
The movie's kinda a cult classic too ...
-
I need to ask them where the name came from...
-
I met this boat and couple on the Mississippi River in downtown St. Paul a few years ago. Always liked the looks of the C-512 metric series of Glastron/Carlsons. Congratulations on the acquisition.
-
Congrats D.
Is Dan getting out of boating?

Is Dan getting out of boating?
I believe so as they're also selling the '98 Tahoe tow vehicle.
-
Any one willing to mount an expedition to go look at it ?
Boat is some where around 280 and 94, close to the river.

Thanks, but its already a done deal...the extraction team will be going next week to get her.

OK ...
Are they seasoned veterans ?
Operations like this should only be handled by Pro's ...

Yep! What time should I tell Dan you'll be there? I promised him you'd lug some bags of cement around too. ;)
Someone volunteered to grab it...I'm planning on running up late next week to grab it. Probably stick it at my Mom's in Mankato until the meet.

How many bags ?

I'm so out of the loop on the cool stories... lol... but, CONGRATS DORAN!
Looks like a nice rig!
-
Any more pictures Jeff ?
That's a cool color !
-
Looks like the fuel stain is not there by that picture.
-
Jeff been working his magic?
-
Is that Jeff's elevator and gel coat service wagon in the photo? he he. Does fuel cause the gel to yellow causing the stain, or is there actually something in the fuel that leaves the residue?
-
Yes, Jeff & Jim have been awesome and have been tinkering with the boat doing test runs and fixing the 'no starter when its hot' issue. Sounds like a loose wire & a new solenoid have it resolved. Jim got the boat and brought it to Jeff's, replaced the solenoid, checked the motor out, etc.
I've got a run down of everything with the boat, its in good working order. Solid floor, etc, but I believe I'll be rebuilding the front seats this fall & winter. Tach doesn't work, but otherwise, just needs some 'Love' to quote Jeff. He's done me a huge favor by buffing the gel out and running the boat on the water to make sure its ready for TI.
I can't thank them enough for all the help. Originally, I wasn't going to see the boat until TI, but my brother in NH is coming to visit next week, so I'm making a run up to Lakeville tomorrow to grab the boat.
(Side note...sold the B. I think I'll eventually look for a CV-23 to do a bowrider conversion on some day...sorry cv-23 guys. Looking for a Wet Bike to work on over the winter too.)

Was starting to sound like the "B" wasn't the right boat for you. Sounds like you made the right decision in selling it. I think you would really like a CV23. Maybe before you hack one up, buy a decent 23, use it for a while, see if you like the closed bow. It works well for more than sleeping. Great storage room, place to get out of sun, baby sleeping zone. changing room, ect.
What about the Glastron Futura 225. Open bow with a 454!!
Jeff and Jim are awesome. Way to go guys! Can't wait to see "bar fly" again. Speaking of Bar Fly, you gonna keep the name Doran?

I have a while before I get a 2nd boat again. The B overheated again on the water, that after working beautifully the weekend before, so I just had had enough...wasn't up for more investigation and will stick to Mercruisers's going forward. (Lesson learned + I made money.)
I think I'll have to keep the name as I'm guessing its prevented that gel from fading, so I think its going to have to stay...like a tattoo, probably permanent...

Had no idea you were given up on the tub.
If you do, I hope you hack up a "pile" but then, that might require too much work. Is that one with the hot tub still around?
If its going to be a "rat rod" type project, not keeping it original at all, I am sure you could sell some parts real easy. I need a couple. :)

The 'hot tub' is a CV-27,and is actually about 30 miles from me...didn't love towing the 24' around, I think I'd be really nervous towing a cv-27! lol

A cv-23 is a long way off...going to build out the storage for it first this time.
-
I forgot that was a 27. A bit large.
I really don't even have anything to tow a 23....safely.
-
There seems to be a good selection of CV23's in very bad shape, so might end up being kind of a cool mod.
You might have said ... but jet or I/O ?
Wish I could have seen the 537 in person ...
OH Well ... I'll see it in three weeks ...

Not going to make it today, picking up some parts for Tim...I'll be there early Saturday AM now.

And...a last minute change of plans...made a run to the TC's and back tonight...boat is safely tucked away in the garage!

PICTURES ?

PICTURES ?
I'll get some up tonight!

Ok, here's some shots after getting it home. Uneventful trip home, tows easy behind the truck, can barely see it back there.

Some of the issues, there's quite a bit of crazing on the starboard side, and the fender is rolled up close to the tire.

-
Yeah, that box IS magic!
-
Looks gorgeous.
-
It looks great Doran! Can't wait to see it in person
-
Nice lookin boat
-
Looks great!
So its a "metric" but shares a lot with the CVX-17. They made several model Metrics.
What were they and how long etc?
I was looking today so for info on my tank size in the 17 and found no specs. Appears they were made about 4 years. How many years were the metrics made?
It would help to know about parts interchangeability etc.
Wish we knew production numbers.

Yep, pretty sure 99% of this boat (C-512) is a CVX-16 I/O...only the top cap is slightly different. The CVX-17 & the Metric C-537 would have more in common as they'd be the same length.
Well, that's just what I see anyway...
