Ooooo! It's a strange one but I know what it is!

The re-paint makes it tough to ID but everything else on it tells me it's a '66 V174 Crestflite, possibly the non-SuperSport version which was originally gold and white.

Hah hah hah! Outstanding! Very good answer Rich. Though by the looks of the motor cover me thinks it is a SuperSport?

The more rare non-SuperSport version was virtually identical, just a different color:

Aha! I see the specs are the same. It appeared to me the motor cover on the SS was bigger/longer. An optical delusion I reckon ...  So what is the difference anyway?

Same boat, different color (gold instead of jade) and the lack of a SuperSport racing stripe on the bow.

The stripe(s) made it a SS? How about more HP? Now that would make sense.
You got the good color Rich. I wouldnt want a skin colored (cleaned up version of how I usually describe the color) boat! I used to laugh when I saw Ford Fairmounts that color or similar and always thought to myself, "hope they got a good deal" Usually some ol timer driving it.
I take it that bow rail was added.

Power options were the same. Bow rails were an option and could be added by the dealer at the customer's request.

Isn't it the fact that it's an I/O that made it an SS? At least that is how the Calson's are. My 67 V172 does not have the stripe yours does. Maybe it just so happened that the I/O's, Stripe, and SS were all used together.

Not nececelery. I suspect someone removed the SS stripe from your boat. The '67 V172 was considered a SuperSport. They also had a V171 Crestflite Sportsman SuperSport that year. The green ones are faster.  ;D

Interesting...... I'll have to ask the guy I bought mine from if it ever had a stripe as he was the original owner. I like the stripe. I might have to add it back on.

Still sitting in the weeds somewhere in SC to the best of my knowledge Rich. A guy on Iboats was trying to ID it while back.

My V163 is an SS and had a stripe on the bow, which I took off. You can still easily see the marks left behind. It looked too "dated" for me at the time but I may be going back more original with this one over time. I'll get some seat dimensions from your 172 at some point. I am not sure they are the same, but close.
