some new stuff
« on: January 05, 2012, 09:11:44 PM »
A little progress report. Hardware is back on, and GT decal.

Got a T&T pump and Bilge pump.

Fuel filter (not in yet)

New wiring harness for motor ($160)

Gauges in but not wired yet. The T/T gauge and Temp gauge go in pods on the dash waiting for J C Whitney.

Speedo goes to 70, Tach to 7 grand. (never know)

Hope to get a little person on Sunday to help with the gas tank.
I sent a money order a week ago to a guy who hasn't got it yet. Hope it didn't get lost. I want the part, and almost imposable to find.

Stay tuned.

Looking good Jerry! Looks like you routed the bilge pump discharge into the splashwell - good idea.

Looks good, I bet you can?t wait to get it to the lake!!!!

I don't know about Minnesota but here in Nebraska it was 70 degrees yesterday and the lakes don't have any ice...I was tempted to just take the boat out yesterday just to say I went boating in January...Then reality set in when I know how much work it is to winterize it again.....

OK, I just have to tell the story.
I have been looking for a short mid for the 1500 for a couple months. The guys that have them, don?t want to sell. I did find one guy who would part with one of his, but after a month decided not to, but had a friend who had one.  It?s really one of those ya need a friend of a friend to get. I called the guy in Middelton WS (suburb of Madison) $700 plus $80 to ship it. Only thing he?ll take is a Postal Money Order, so last Friday I went to the Post Office, got the Money order, and sent it registered mail. I figure long weekend, should get it Tuesday. Yesterday he e-mails me ?haven?t got it yet? I go to www.usps to check it.

Left here on the 30th
Madison on the 31st
Middelton  (4  miles away) on the 5th, with a note it had been ?forwarded?

I went to the Post Office to see if they could find anything out. My Postmaster called Middelton and they said they had a Permanente ?forward? on that name.
I came back home and called him. ?Oh ya, I have everything forwarded to my girlfriends address? in Madison 4 miles away. He called me back and got the tracking number. Seems it goes from Middleton to Milwaukee, and back to Madison. He may get it Monday.

Ask yourself ?why is the post office losing money??

I have one of those.

It moves the weight back and up too high. Not good for handling or speed.

I had a Son-in-law today, so I finally got the gas tank in.

There was almost like some super fiberglass under the regular.

Filler and vent all in.

all hooked up!!

I don't know Jerry...I think I'd just want my money back at this point.  A lot of funny business going on with this guy.

If you really want it...take a day, cruise to Madison and pick it up with cash in hand...

Jerry, I do not quite understand why you want a 15" midsection on your 150 HP Merc. How high is the transom? If it is 20" then the motor's cavitation plate will be approximately 5" above the bottom of the boat. 1" to 2" is usual, but 5" is unusually high and might introduce water cooling problems through not enough water entering the holes in the lower unit. Are you having a special lower unit with low water pickup? Motors this high also have cavitation problems in high waves and require surface props. Have you thought all of this through?
