Stern light covers, anyone still make them?
« on: August 13, 2012, 08:23:36 AM »
Yesterday I went to pop my stern light cover off to clean the dust out of it and it pretty much crumbled in my hand. Anyone know of a place that sells the covers still? Its the rectangle base style, not the round screw in type.

I think you can get one from Hannay's in MN. They show them in their catalog.

Hi guys.  I just recently purchased a '74 CV-16.  I too was cleaning out the stern light cover... dropped it on the ground and now I have a zillion little pieces of a light cover.  All I need is the glass cover for the stern light.  Did anyone find a place to purchase a replacement?

Hi Brian ... and welcome to the forum !
74 CV should have the jetson light pole.
Is your like this ?
I'm not sure if any one makes a replacement for it ...
I remember Rich posted something about there being two different size pole.

Please start a new thread with some pictures of your CV ...
We love G/C pictures !

Joe ...
I only have one and it's in ruff shape ...
Do you know where I could get more of them ...
LOL

My 1974 CV16SS has this style. Not the Jetson glass ball style. Not to say both were not offered. I think mine was original too as when I got the boat the plastic cover was very weathered and cracked. I bought the replacement part Gregg posted. Looks great!

Hey all.  Man... thanks for the quick reply!  You guys are serious about this!

I will post pics as soon as I have some.  Mine is not the "SS" model.  Just CV-16 with 140hp i/o.  It has the "jetson style" pole just like the one shown in the pic in the post above... and the globe was in fine shape until I dropped it on the concrete floor of my shop.  !@#@#$!%   ...I cursed like a drunken sailor for like 20 mins.  :)

If need be... I would get a replacement pole of another type... but I thought I would start by looking for only the glass globe cover itself.  I know this is a tall order.

" You guys are serious about this ! "
Fanatical would be a better term ...

In 1974 the "CV16SS" was the I/O, and the outboard model was the "CV16 Super" ...
What color is yours ?

Oh... maybe it is a "SS".   8)

Mine is exactly like the green I/O in the picture, but mine is blue two-tone not green.

If anyone finds a jetson globe or full pole let me know...

Thanks for all the newbie help.  This is a great resource.  I am really looking forward to participating.

Just out of curiosity? What is the HIN number on the rear of the boat? I am willing to bet your's is a 73 being that it is blue. 1974 colors were green or plum. Also, the 73 shown below has the jetson style light. Also, post a picture of the dash if you can. Dash was different from 73 to 74. See how the black plastic wraps down on the 74?
