Going to sell the CVZ18 Project
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:31:09 AM »
Hello Everyone, I have been on the fence with this decision for about a week but I think I know what the right answer is. Due to continued issues with my knee, more than likely I will be getting an ACL transplant sometime this year due to everything not healing the way we hope with my surgery in November. This surgery is going to be a much longer recovery than the first and much more difficult. I am going to sell the CVZ18 project I got in the fall, just won't be able to physically do what needs to be done due to mobility issues with my knee. The hull is solid, floor needs complete replacement and this should be considered a completed restoration project. I do have the original windshields without any cracks or breaks. The motor is complete but needs a rebuild. The boat is sitting on a very nice Four Winns trailer that is in great shape. The boat and trailer are located just south of Charlotte, NC. Please look at the pics and send me an offer if you are interested. I also have a perfect condition complete Alpha 1 drive for it including 2 sets of trim cylinders and kimbal assembly. I hate to get rid of this but even after I get healed up (another year), not sure if I will be up to it. This is a great boat and the potential is there, hull is solid as can be. Just want someone to take it and make it beautiful again.

Thinking about selling huh?

A price would be helpful...but I'll say this, it spent years outside uncovered, so another year on that nice cement pad, covered up, won't do any more damage than has already occurred.

You've already got a ton of parts assembled for it....I say rehab your knee, then rehab the boat.

I agree with Doran. You will regret selling it. As Doran said you already have a place for it, and you have a lot of parts collected. Tarp it until you are up to putting the work into it. It is not going to get in any worse shape.

I understand and have pondered that for a while. All of the motor parts I have accumulated are staying in the garage, not selling them. You guys mentioned to me that there is someone looking for a CVZ, please get in touch with him and ask him to contact me. As much as I would love to eventually do the project, I really think I will be much better off to wait until all these knee issues are behind me and then find a Carlson that is complete and ready to put in the water. With my work demands and an 11 year old that plays soccer 12 months a year, spare time is at a premium. I  am willing to get rid of the boat, outdrive and the trailer seperate. The outdrive and the best set of cylinders are in mint condition, don't even need to be painted. The gimbal assembly is in really nice shape. If someone is really interested, throw me and offer and we will go from there.

Brian had his Acl replaced last year. I believe he wants to buy a boat that is ready to got. In talking to him he does not want a project
I think this has become an addiction.

UPDATE: I am going to keep the boat! I know if I saw it pull away, I would regret it. I will get to it when I can get to it. May take me longer, but it will get done at some point. Thanks for the encouraging words to not get rid of it.

I was in the exact same position as you (well, not the knee thing), but with my CVZ project.  I'm very glad I've kept it, and I think you will be glad you kept yours as well.

Good news Rich.
