Come ride along...
« on: October 24, 2013, 03:47:01 PM »
... with me and "Stardust", my '83 Intimidator on the river Elbe in Hamburg/Germany:

http://youtu.be/qHMU-C1PmVU

Hope you enjoy the ride!

She has gone through a lot in her life but I gave her the chance she deserved and restored her to the former glory for her 30th birthday. May she run like this for the next 30 years and more.

Not yet. Will do that in the winter time.
Basically it was the typical, new floor, new stringers, new interior, new metalflake, new Gen II outdrive and transom, new engine parts and so on restoration. lol

Aaron, your "Stardust" is sounding awesome!  Looks like you've figured out that final throttle thrust to keep the backwash from coming over the stern.  That's an easy way to fill the bilge with water if you have decelerate quickly.
I was in Berlin and Munich just a couple of weeks ago during Oktoberfest and it was pretty chilly at that time.  Will it be time to winterized her soon?

You are all very welcome guys!

Yeah that final throttle problem hehe. Imagine how it was for me when the engine just randomly turned off at full speed, no chance of doing anything to keep the water out.
I had to learn as the situation is pretty serious at the moment (see the pic).

Yeah it really is pretty chilly but who cares as long as there is no ice on the river???  :D :D :D

Oh!  She is really looking pretty!  I had that running pretty fast and engine kill when I ground up that drive and it locked up the engine.  I think it pushed water onto Red in the backseat, fortunately the flaps were in the exhaust tubes.
Do you have the windscreen, and tell me that is not going to have a scoop on the bilge cover to accommodate that flame arrest.  Please!

Thank you!
Don't worry. The Hillborne scoop is only temporarly as the engine cover wasn't reflaked at that point.
I do have a brand new original (no aftermarket) windshield which is going to be put back on next season. The interior still needs a little finish as the upper rear bench is still not upholstered.
There are still some things to do this winter.

Try clicking on the "Watch on YouTube" button on bottom right.
Might have to "OK" the "Pop Up" warning on yellow bar.

Picture below is NOT a link. just a picture ...
