CVZ Badges
« on: April 09, 2014, 03:52:37 PM »
Finally got the Z painted and flipped to work on top.  The badges on the engine cover were gone when I purchased unit.   Question is, are these available?   I found some nice colored labels that I could bury in the clear coat, but I would need to patch the holes first.   Cost appears to be $25.00 for a pair+ shipping.   Anyone have info on the badges or decals?   A couple pics of progress for everyone.

Hello Brandon,

I do still sell the Glastron Emblems, they are $100 per set of 2. I have attached a photo.

I personally like the decals for $25.00  I was gonna pull mine off eventually and replace with the decals.  But...if you want new ones, that's not a horrible price considering.

Is that what the original 79 CVZ would have been wearing?   They do look nice, I agree, but I have seen the decals, and they are pretty nice looking also.   Luv the red/blue colors especially.

Look through the " Vendor and Repair Resources " section ...

Brochures in PDF, price and spec. sheets, Carlson parts catalogs, windshields, decals & emblems, history, owners manuals, etc ...

So...apparently I can't upload or link to pictures are work anymore...guess I'm supposed to work now?  j/k.

Anyway, your badges would be just like all the other CVZ/CVX's...with the raised plastic emblem that likes to crack at the last 'N' and between the 'Glastron' and 'Carlson' logo.  The rivets eventually split them.  I lost the last piece of my 'N' this last summer, so I'll have to go to the decal this spring which is fine...they needed a refresher anyway.

Jeff has them on his, and they look nice.  IMO, better than the reproduction emblem.  Its a nice effort for sure, but I think the decal has a better look to it.

I'll post pictures tonight if you need them.

I just found some blue and red vinyl and added some color to mine. These are on my old CVX16. I liked them so much I put a set on my CVX18 immediately. What I like is you can get them with or without rivet holes. I purchased the ones without rivet holes for a cleaner look and it solves the issue with cracking around the rivets. Mine are held on with double sided adhesive tape.

Yes, very good look Kip.  I'm still on the fence on which to use...

I wish the Glastron portion had stuck to a more original style look I guess...

I've seen the decals and the look is spot on to the orginals. These are pretty close but will never be mistaken for a set of original emblems. Either way both are a big improvement over the weather checked, cracking originals found on most these boats.

Nice!  Looking forward to seeing it in June.

I really want to paint mine an Evening Orchid, with a Plum Crazy Purple Metalflake...I think that'd look awesome.

(I stole that from Wex...so credit where credit is due...)

Just an update, I opted for the stickers.  Was afraid the big letters might not fit the recess.  They appear to be able to sit in the recess of the hood.   I'll post some pics when I paint the top.

Maybe its my old eyes, but I do not see the same inset "dimple" in that photo that my CVZ hood has.   Looks like the decals I bought will fit, at least I hope so, since I did not fill in the recess.   Makes me wonder if the Z hood is different from the X hood?

I've got a dealer Glastron Carlson 1980 Small Parts Catalog and Service Manual. It has the Bills of Materials w/part numbers for all the Carlson boats. The hood assembly for the CVX18 mand CVZ are the same P/N.

Description: MOTORCOVER ASSEMBLY -MERC      P/N 00-2920

The description denotes the type of outdrive system because the CVX and CVZ 18's could both be ordered with an  OMC Stringer drive which required a different hood. It was taller w/more clearance needed for the OMC system.
