Well, what can I say...
I been working hard to get to the point of being able to start up the old Merc, and I did today
, However! after fooling around with it for only a few minutes, then shut it down in fear that the noise would once again cause someone to call the Police....and I did take a video of the engine running, and will upload it to this post, as soon as it uploads to youtube
I was sitting on a bucket, facing the starboard side of the engine, and it so happens that when I sit on that side of the engine, I'm facing the back yard property line. I was trying to figure out how I'm going to get my EST distributor ignition coil connector to rotate past the fuel line 5/8'' brass nut, which BTW it will not at this point, have to figure somethng out.
Well, while I was trying to figure that out so I could fire it back up and set the timing, I saw someone walk over to the right rear corner of my fence, and he look right at me, and I looked at him, and he quickly walked off. I'm not sure where he came from, but I feel that he may have been the one that called the Police on me the first time. I'm not positive but I would think so, since he went out of his way to inspect where the loud noise was coming from. I was barely even above idle just for a short burst or two checking out the carb, which wants to cut out when I quickly give it gas but wll idle. (I will add this issue to my other thread)
Well I know that I need to do something about the open exhaust sound. I think maybe I will put some sort of hose on the exhaust rubber boot, and run the hose over into a large bucket of water. I don't feel like I can continue working on the engine until I resolve this issue, and don't want to keep feeling like I have to look over my shoulders, or keep my eye on the rear property, every time I need to work on this Merc.
Any suggestion on how I can lower the noise level on the open exhaust, would be appreciated
thanks
