Sounds like you got Andy Edsons old boat. Seems to me it ended up in that area of the country and was then sold again shortly. Could be wrong.

That is a beauty!   Mine is a an 87.  Same dash, but my rear storage hatches flip up from rear.  Yours make more sense.

Chad - Your rear pads are the stock configuration.  The original club owner (Andy) had that boat rebuilt bow to stern and had the pad hinges flipped for easier access.

I might follow his lead.  Seems like I am never standing behind the boat when I am reaching for the small anchor I keep back there.

Yep, its a good idea.  The only downside I can think of is the potential for them to fly up and rip off when trailering?  But...if you have a cover, that's not an issue then.  (Or can lock them down.)

I drool everytime I see that interior Andy put in that boat. As others have said, enjoy it! You own a brand new Carlson that was rebuilt bow to stern with no expense spared.

When I redid my 18 I made them so they flipped open the other way. I just ran a piece of Velcro on the side and never had them fly open. I never trailer-ed with a cover on either.
I think this has become an addiction.

My CVX-20 had the type that hinged at the front and opened from the rear...  However, they also had velcro to hold them down.  I would assume that velcro would hold them down either way they were hinged.  Mine were pretty tightly fit, so they took a good tug to open them.

I don't think that mine would fly off either, but one never knows the weather you can hit when towing.  My '96 Glastron had a sunpad and that would like to get air under it and would lift up given enough speed and the right bounce when towing.  The straps did keep it down, but it was always a possibilty.

If you look at the picture of BIGZEE's boat you can see they used a strut to keep the pad raised and I suspect to keep it locked down when in the closed position.

So BIGZEE, none of my business, but what did you pay for that boat? And if you would rather not say, I understand that completely.
