Evinrude 115 assistance please
« on: November 30, 2015, 07:40:49 PM »
I broke the four boat rule and brought home another Thanksgiving morning.  Object was to acquire a 115 rude, looks quite similar to the twin 85's from recent acquisitions.  The ad showed T/T cylinders so I got excited and bought it.  Pulled it off the boat and found some items missing.  Looks like one of the cylinders is gone, and the pump that bolts to the side?  I'm holding a hydraulic line that I suspect goes to it, was laying in the boat.  So I'm in the market to locate what I need to make the TT work.  I assume that the same TT setup would work with the 85's also?  Thanks all, Michael.

You are missing the tilt cyl and the pump. The cyl that's there is for trim (they are different). The pump from my GT leaked so I fitted a mercruiser trim pump mounted inside. I have also herd that a force trim pump will work. Could check eBay for the cyl. Though I have some cylinders I'm not willing to part with them before the next project is done. If yer interested in the leaking pump to rebuild pm me

Thanks Joe, I do have a spare merc pump, hoses, wires etc. That I could try if it comes down to it.   The trim and tilt cylinders must be different sizes.  What would be an acceptable price range for a cylinder and pump?

There was one (entire unit) on CL for about $100 last week ... It went fast ...

Try Twin City Outboard ...

EDIT ...
WOW ...
You could buy a few junk motors for there prices on T & T's !
Maybe there used prices are reasonable ?

yea they are hard to find, and people seem to think they are worth lots.
the first one i had i sold cuz the pump did not fit on the transom (Gregg later pointed out turning the pump with an added bracket would work) anyways i got $200 for it and it sold in 2 days, it had the old style motor and was not in great condition.
the trim units i have came with complete parts motors.
here is a pump on CL for $250, been for sale for 2 years, it has the older style motor and replacement i belive is NLA
the newer style use a presto-lite motor, see pix.

Jerry Selner possibly has some parts.

as far as the cylinders go, the one you have (trim) is the same dia but has a shorter hydraulic stroke (it moves free during tilt) it also has the sensor for a trim gauge in it. the tilt cyl runs full stroke. this way there is more pressure to hold under power for trim, and it moves faster in the tilt phase.

Try my guy, he would probably have some.   Twin city outboards outcast family  :)   I do know that the top ram bolt is almost impossible to find so be careful when you pull them apart.

That's also the bolt I was talking about. The only ones I was able to find were long ones like the one on joe's.  They work just 1/2" to long

longer ones like that are from 3 cyl motors
that one did eventually break, a 5/16 bolt and a 1/2" roll pin also works (thats all i could find at the hardware store)
i need to have some made at work.

I'm pretty sure I found the ram bolt and pump mounting bolts when we were scavenging the donor boat.

I like your set up Joe, clean installation.  I can see why you would need an adapter to turn the pump on yours, the transom width is narrower than the transom I pulled the 115 off.  I have the mounting bolts, but I could make one if the cylinder that I locate is different from the originals.
