Title: Green Light update
Post by: catchnedge on February 19, 2024, 09:20:23 AM
Hi all, been a while since I've been active on here. You may remember a few years back I sold the fleet. Then I acquired the CVX-18 and had it for a year. It was a great boat, but determined not exactly what I wanted going forward and sold it. Long story short... I ended up re-acquiring both my Surflite and CV-16 back. I know. The Surflite is just like it was except I replaced the hardtop headliner. The CV-16 needed some work. I've been busy last several months with it. I had previously sold off the original 115 Merc as it had issues. So I've been looking for a good replacement. Really wanted a 115, but this 90 came along... compression 135 across the board, cosmetically was excellent and it was the right price. So, bought the donor boat and had the 90 installed. Just got it back home this weekend. Time to get things back together. Making progress, thought I would share some pics.

Boat looks great Mark ..
Have you found green vinyl ?
Guessing that's a 1986 to 1988 three trim ram, ADI, powerhead HP rated 90 HP motor.
Baystar and lift motor to highest setting should get over 50 mph/gps

Steve did the old decals on newer motor  8)

Glastrons are a hard habit to break, welcome back Mark.  The 16 looks great.

Gregg, thanks. No vinyl needed, seats are intact. The engine is a 1986 ELPTO... last year for the 6 cyl 90hp. Your chart confirms prop rated and ADI!! Oil injection has been removed. I'll be mixing and using portable tanks. I haven't lake run it yet, so looking forward to that. We'll see what it does with the current 19p, guessing I'll be needing to find a Laser II 21p or similar. Will run as is for now, but might try to make it look period correct later on as that sure looks nice.

Plugcheck... thanks!

I'm in need of two of these "post fasteners" (not sure what they are actually called?, the small metal pieces that push onto the posts and cinch down). Trying to put the little Glastron badge/football back on the upholstery near splash well. If I was applying the badge to a hard flat surface, I would just cut the posts off and use two-sided tape. But this goes through material and through piece of wood, need something to hang onto the plastic posts on back of the badge.  Anyone have a few of these they could spare... or have a good alternative to securing in place?

Thanks!

Always called those push nuts, they are sold sized by the shaft diameter.    Most common being 3/16.

Thanks Plugcheck... looks like Lowes has some "flat spring nuts" of various sizes, small quantities, that look very similar to the original. Will be up there today and check em out.

These #8 flat speed nuts worked great... tapped them with a hammer slightly to close the gap, they hold tight. These are firmer than the original ones, so have to be careful if I ever need to remove them... to keep from snapping off the posts.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Got the interior back in... pictures are not the greatest, sun is setting. The original dash was a basket case, previous owner had it repaired, looked pretty nice but deformed it. I cracked it in several places trying to get it installed, the plastic is very brittle. Might get lucky and find a nice replacement some day.

Thanks Ross!  Sort of... The CVX-20 & CSS16 are gone. The Surflite & CV16 were gone but now are back. We sold off our property by Canyon Lake and lost all my storage, so now whatever I keep is at a premium.

Ross, It was a good runner for sure and we had a great time with it. I would like to someday get a 23, downsizing gave some room for that to happen.

Looks like you've got quite a fleet now... are you spending most of your time on the 23?
