All - So besides the floor needing care down the road, Ive gone through almost everything on this boat with the exception of the steering rack and the outdrive. I though that since the motor has been rebuilt, it may be smart to go ahead and rebuild the out drive. It works fine, the oil is clean but I know its got some seasons on it and I don't know the condition (I did replace the steering pin and gimbal ring). What would something like this run? Or could I tackle myself? What tools are must haves? Or should I put a alpha 1 on it from SE and call it a day? That would bolt up to the helmet and go into the coupler?
For the steering rack, it of course a little sloppy, but till do ok I guess. But it feels like the bushing or bearing at the rack end is moving left and right. Are these serviceable? I have heard of teleflex? This is a Morse. Seems pretty straight forward to replace. Also at the engine end, the link from the pin to the end of the cable is sloppy at the cable. Should I open up and add a bushing or is there a bushing that I can buy? Or would new cable cure this? Or just tell me "you will never get the slop out of the steering"...
