But Mom, it followed me home.
« on: July 22, 2020, 11:25:06 AM »
Another wayward boat followed me home last night.   Actually Makinwaves boat project.  Came with a 85 HP Merc, that at least isn't locked up.  Appears to have decent compression.   Has a unique custom made SS transom/backplate.     Probably will be asking questions about this old Carlson in the future when the resto begins.

I saw a plate on the inner transom.  I'll look closer Sunday.  Any leads from the group on info or parts is appreciated.

Most have the serial number plate around the seat platform.

Early Carlson brochures here ..

Looked around, didn't see any numbers or ID plate, might be under some layers of crud somewhere.   Here is a couple pics of the custom jack plate transom, I'm just guessing here, but maybe they needed it since the drive was too long?  I thought these always took the really short drives.   I could measure the 85hp Merc, but it looks like the standard 20" leg.

Glastron offered a transom extension for Challenger & Contender.
Nothing in old Carlson brochures about a extension.
Was told by owner that this is what they looked like .. Boat pictured is a 1968 Challenger.
