'86 CVX-18 Stern light base
« on: July 18, 2019, 10:51:00 AM »
I managed to break the stern light pole socket away from the mounting base and now I'm searching for a replacement.  I remember reading somewhere that anything new does not line up with the existing holes, but was curious if anyone has found replacement that fits.  Otherwise, If someone has a spare...I'm in the market.

Thanks,
Scott

Here's a photo...the chrome sleeve that supports the plastic socket broke away from the base.

Are you trying to keep it "stock" ?
If so, I can keep my eye out for one next time I am at the boat "bone yard".

The contacts are fine in the plastic sleeve, so a metal base is really all I should need.  I think the only way to avoid drilling new hole/s is to use something from a similar vintage.  Thanks Joe - I'll take it.

This is off one of my parts boats.. thinking 76cv.. a little different but should be same holes. I’ll keep looking through my parts to see what else I can find.

Thanks for looking.  It sounds like Joe may have a base that I can use, as long as I can save my plastic sleeve that has the connection pins.  I've scoured the interwebs and have come up empty on a base with similar dimensions.

I suppose one option would be to make a polished aluminum sub base.  Use either the front set of screws or the single one straight through to the original wood.  Tap the sub base for machine screws, the coutersink the sub base for the screws that go into the wood.   With a nice bevel, it could look factory made.

Here's a spare I have if you need it.

I used the socket to replace the one on my CVX 18 because the PO re soldered the wires using a propane torch turning the socket into a plastic blob.
You are welcome to have the shell. It does have light pitting and the cover is loose .

The plastic socket can be pulled off a new base as that’s what I did it fit like a glove. I could not find just the plastic socket separately. If you can get a base from someone you’ll be good to go.
