Using composite's ?
Yep. Yep.

200 horsepower motor?
-
What happened to the Hy faux stream? Thought we'd hear about first runs? Regardless, good to see progress on a Glastron.
-
Good to see a Metric being brought back to life! Keep us posted Doug.

Yeah man, me neither. It should be purty bad azz.
-
Were the knees and stringer solid composites ?
Could you pour stringer also ?
How will he do the bidge / drain well ... V off the stringer end ?
-
Everything was poured Gregg. No bilgewell per se. Just a cut-out to mount the pump.
-
So is the whole area under the floor open as a bilgewell?
Also how did you do the keel? Laminated sheets or poured?

Yes, the area under the floor is open. Keel/stringer was poured.
-
very cool! Looks like really great work!
-
When everything is poured is it done at the same time?
Meaning the stringer or the tramsom one pour.

Stringer first. Then transom and knees.
-
OK ... Better pictures of holes in transom to knees.
Hard to see in first pictures you posted ...
So stringer is NOT attached to transom, floor & knees ties it all together ...
Your Buddy with the yellow CVX was done the same way ?
That is some cool chit Doug !
Talked with Scott (Shipwreck) about pourable's .. He thought it was fine to cut top off stringer and pour, then cover with glass.
Also said you could make custom molds with just cardboard and duct tape. Pour and peel ... LOL

Are those forms 1 layer of biax?

From page #1 of this thread ...
"Forms are structural glass."
What is that ?
-
Are those forms 1 layer of biax?
Nah it's this "structural"stuff. Don't have a name or number. Yet. Best I can describe it is: Layer of biax in betwixt mat and what we used to call Roven/Roving.

There's a boat that looks like it's going a 100 mph when it's standing still. I posted one like it a while back (C500) with a 140 In line six that would do around 64. I think it was someone from Michigan. It was also Chris Polasky. 81 Glastron Carlson C-500 Metric with Mercury 115 (62 gps) Possible reason: need to be in a river with a 10 mile current. Are you reading this Chris? Hope the Black Max balances out for you OK Doug.

I just noticed that Chris got his boat running. After this happened Huge hole in hull!

Hadn't seen that he'd fixed it. That's good news.

Gonna be real purty. Should haul azz too.

Will windshield be black or blue ?

Will windshield be black or blue ?
Most likely black. But blue has been discussed.
-
Blue might be cool ...
-
Blue might be cool ...
Maybe. But it might be too much.
-
Might be ...
-
Might be ...
If'n I were the guy painting it, I'd probly paint it blue. To begin with. And only because of it not having any brackets, or 'trim' to speak of. Might blend in.
-
I kind of thought the same...it might look like its part of the hull. If not, can always shoot it black.
-
Looks great Doug!
-
I vote for black.
-
Fill, sand, prime. Sand, fill, sand, prime ...
-
Looks kind of cool as is! Clear coat it.

That's what I said! "Body Shop Camo" ...

The latest. Soon it'll be flipped over to do the bottom.

Looking good... a lot of nice toys in that shop.. corvette, lambo, buggy, what’s the story if you don’t mind ?
-

The one that looks like Santa's sleigh is a 1908 Buick. The vette is Mark's '72 Stingray. What looks like a Lambo is actually a Vaydor kit car. In theory the idea is you buy a Infinity G35, saw the top half off, and bolt this body on.
-
Gotta love the toys... that’s why we all go this. Might have to start a thread just called “toys” Keep up the good work and get some flakes on that thing! IMHO paint the shield blue
-
IMHO paint the shield blue
I tend to agree. As Doran said it could always have a coat of black shot on if he didn't like the blue. But, ain't my boat anymore. So we'll see.

Note the two inboard strakes continued all the way aft.

What product did you use on the hull?
-
What product did you use on the hull?
Imron.
-
Were the strakes extend on Ron's CVX also ?
-
Is that factory? Tom Brown used that idea. More lift. The C500 is faster. Nice shine. Rich

Don't think so. Not sure.

Not factory.
-
Bottom's done. Final prep on deck. Note fuel fill delete. Gonna put it somewhere it ain't poking through the deck.
-
Where will filler be ?
-
Where will filler be ?
Under the ashtray/cigarette lighter ...
-
Make sense ...
So tank is still under front deck ?
And ash tray will be relocated to deck ...
-
Your going to put the fuel tank filler next to the ash tray and you smoke, anyone else notice a possible safety issue? Hard to notice sarcasm in text sometimes. I'm curious to know how you extended the strakes, is it a block of wood, all glass, or something aftermarket?
-

Made a form from structural glass. Then biax, and then mat.
-
Not much to report. As we're under a love bug delay. Deck's purty much ready for paint.
-
Are you going to paint or gel the flake on your boat? Would love to see and hear your process with that. Looks very good with all you have done. Jim.

Paint. Love bugs have gone so probably get some done this week.
-
Three coats of Imron top'n bottom. Now for some flake.
-
FINALLY! Flake on the deck. Now wet sand and clearcoat.
-
Looks great Doug!
-
Rigged and running by Halloween? Really looks great. Was that flake shot with a blue basecoat or intercoat clear?
-
Wow!

No clear yet.
-
Three luxurious coats of clear Imron. Now to wet sand and buff. Then rig.
-
Slow but sure. Wetsanded and buffed. Jackplate on.
-
Is that a v6 Mercury in the background by the color matched Corvette tow vehicle? Is that the power for this one? Boat looks great

2.5 200.

Super nice build. I have been thinking bout extending my strakes like that on my cvx. I'm curious to see how it effects the handling. I think it will be far more stable at higher speeds and not be so prone to fall off the narrow pad.
