For those of you with more than one boat listed in your profile - let me know which model your bringing.
I'd like to make little placards to go on the boats during the beach party/boat vote so that the public viewers will know what they're looking at.

Thanks !

Don't forget to give me the name of your boat ... if it's not on your profile.  :-)

Change of plans.  My brother is meeting me at the event and wants something closer to the restroom facility, so, I've moved to 102.

Made my reservations this morning, site 116, bringing my wife and 2 teenage kids, only one condition for them (Lodge or Camper), so we rented a camper from A- Z, just a little cheaper than the lodge.  Anxious to meet fellow glastroners...

Is this lake a sand, rock or mub bottom lake?

To those of you who are considering renting an RV to bring to the meet, I was just looking at Cruise America rentals and they have a 2500lb max tow rating on all of their rentals.  I'm not sure all of the RV rental company's  are that way, was just putting it out there.  Also, you have to declare that you are towing, with Cruise America, and then there is an additional charge also.

I'm thinking that Joe (84carlson) rented from A-Z Rental at the lake:  http://www.rathbunrvrentals.com/index.html

They do all the hauling, parking and setup...just have to show up & enjoy.  I'm toying with doing the same.

Its 50/50 whether I'm in a camper or sleeping in the back of the Avalanche again...for the same reason!

Joe - it is mud bottom.  Clay in some areas & really sticky.
It's a Corps of Engineers lake, so they haul in sand for the beaches & they've been working real hard on shoreline stabilization so there are miles of rough stone "rip-rap."  This is farm country, so some of the run-off brings down some farm sediment, too.

Moving up here from central Texas where our lakes were limestone bottom, I had some issues with the water quality ... but I got over it.
I do have to wash the boat after every weekend out, though.

Here's what I have for attendee's so far.  I might regret moving up towards the showers seeing how many of you are going to be together down towards the other end...guess we'll see.

I chose my campsite because it has a view of the lake. Clicking on details of the campsites and being able to actually see them online, it seemed the farther north and towards the showers I could not see the water.  Hoping for some beautiful sunsets.

Thanks for the map, Doran.

Just FYI, the state park maintains "non-reservable" campsites that are for same day registration only.
They have informed me that the first few guys to show up are welcome to reserve one or more of the
same-day sites for other members of the group.  In the end, there would be two transactions -
1) between the "reservist" and the state park, and
2) between the "reservist" and member who stays on that  campsite

Joe -

When I talked to Iowa DNR about the State Park, I was told that all of the South Campsites are full hook-up and closed through the winter.  They should each have water, electric & sewer.  They described the North sites as being electric and water only with a dump station nearby for sewer.

I will be out at the lake this week measuring beaches for our boat vote/beach party & can drive through the south campgrounds and verify.

Thanks Josh!  I'm working on it and really excited about bringing it along. On that website that I went into you could also see how many feet wide and long those spaces are.  I also chose it because it was one of the deeper ones.
