Said hello to an old friend
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:33:05 PM »
... he was gone long ago, but hardly forgotten. I had the privilege of meeting up with Bruce Johnson's daughter Kim and significant other, Ingrid, last week over in L.A.  We went by to toast Bruce and check in on his boat which has not moved since he passed about 3 years ago now.  It was also his birthday last week.  Boat looks magnificent!  Sadly still at rest, covered and tucked away in a shop.  Daughter Kim has intentions on making it her own soon and then will see about getting it back on the water.  Fuel smelled good still and the cover has kept it clean as the day it was parked.

Rest in peace my friend.....

May he rest in peace. I had the privilege talking to him on the phone when I was on the Route 66 trip with my dad back in 2008.

Was planning on meeting him but his health was in such a bad stage that he said he was sorry but our date would not come together.

A few weeks later I read about his passing. He was the first own who posted about me on the CGOA forums, that was back when I was 14 years old. My first post was at Carlsonspeed, he was amazed what I did to my CVX 16 back then.

He must have been a great guy!

A wise person once told me the most important thing we leave behind on this earth is the memories that friends and family have of us.  "If thinking of me brings a smile to their face, then I figure it was a good run".  You've honored your friend well, Chris.   ;)  Thanks for sharing.

Funny thing, this internet.  How we can become friends with people we've never even met.

I miss Bruce.  And always wondered what happened to Ingrid and Challenger Baby.

Thanks, Chris!

'Preciate it Chris. Bruce was a good man. RIP Kilroy Bay.

edit.

"Ships that pass in the night, and speak to each other in passing, Only a signal shown and a distant voice in the darkness;
So on the ocean of life we pass and speak to one another, Only a look and a voice; then darkness again and a silence."
