Doran, if you are serious about the ski pylon, I have all  the measurements for the factory ski pylon mount through the engine cover and all the parts I need to pattern for an original bench seat. I would be happy to bring the stuff over when I pick up my goodies from Rich.

Keep in mind, the idea is to pattern off of a Ski Machine's bench...so CVZ patterns for the bench would be useless.  I want to keep with a larger & taller tow pole for the kids watersports.

Like this, only shorter to be flush with the engine cover and not mess up the lines.

If you do that you are loosing more room and a seat.
I think this has become an addiction.

you could do that with the factory pole mount with a little modification. I will post pictures for the mount later. but you could put an extended pole in the mount and then have support braces to keep it from bending.

If you want a taller pole why dont you just put one of these on your current one then it can be removed when you want.

I've built 2 interiors so far, why not a 3rd?  I still have to redo the gunnels anyway.

I've got a nice aftermarket pole, so I'll just integrate that.  I'll mock it up and see what it looks like...

Mocked up a couple center sections today.  They don't look right without the molded/sculpted splashwell that the Ski Machine has...so scrapping that idea.  Sometimes I gotta build it, see it and move on...good, that idea is put to bed.

Is a Marine Quadrajet for a 5.7 also a match for my 5.0L?

Contacted the seller about this intake...good choice?

All the brass bushings and such is more important for salt water, fresh water is not as corrosive, therefore, why spend more when ya don't have too.  The Weind 8004 is a fine manifold and should work well in your application.  Summit racing should have all the install info you would ever need for that manifold.  Height wise, I would doubt much more than +/- .500 difference in height, but you could check the specs to compare.  As for the qjet, it is missing a few parts, and that's just on the outside,  if I could open the unit up, and check the air horn, only then would I know if it is a good buy.  Personally I would rather have one complete that came off a running engine that requires rebuild.

Thanks Mike.  I can't really find too much on that model number, only that its 'vintage'...as you well know, not a lot of space under our covers so yeah, I does need to be close to stock height!

I do have a line on a stock Marine quadrajet that was a running take off...so likely going that route.

I probably would not give more than $75.00 for it, but it certainly would clear an hei dizzy, set for spread and square bore carbs.  With my performer intake, I have at least an inch of clearance to deck lid.  You should be able to make the complete swap for roughly $200.00.

Doran
I have a stock 4 barrel intake and an Edelbrock performer I can sell you. Shipping might make it impractical however.

Not sure how far the CL posting with the Wiend is, but some cost will be associated with getting to Doran's place.   One thing for certain, the performer will fit your Z's 898, and can be swapped over later to a 5.7 if ya choose to.   Just more to consider.   You have all winter to find that great buy.
