3rd Annual Glastron Classic 2010
« on: March 14, 2010, 10:14:23 PM »
This is the official thread for the upcoming 2010 Glastron Classic.

This years meet will be held (once again) at the Island Campground just across the river from Red Wing, MN.  The meet will be held on August 20th, 21st, and 22nd.

Rates this year should remain similar to last year with the full weekend being $94 for a Tent or RV with fresh water, electricity, and a slip for your boat for the entire meet.  The breakdown of cost is $32 per night for a tent or rv.  This is defined as two adults with a small charge for extra adults.  Slips are reserved on a first come first served basis. ($15 per night). The best slips are on the shore side of the marina and may be private.  Other slips may be located on the river side of the marina or may be combination slips with a second boat.  Please keep in mind that I will do everything I can to meet your needs, but paid reservations are the best way to ensure the best spots.  Last year, there were enough slips for everyone who requested one.

Again, for two adults in a tent or RV with a reserved place in the marina for two nights, the cost is $94.00.

This year, we are requesting that we have a Pot Luck style of meal service.  Last year, we were blessed by club members bringing a great deal of high quality eats.  I reccomend that we do somthing similar again.  I will be providing fried chicken for Saturday dinner, and I think that the majority of the rest of the food can come from members of the club.  I will help by providing suggestions, but I would ask that when you make your reservations, that you include telling me somthing that you could bring in support of the meals.  This way, there will be less overall cost to support the event.

There is some consideration of a public concert by a wonderful vocalist and folk guitar player named Justin Roth.  He is a local performer that Lisa and I know and he would be able to put on a concert in the campground for a modest donation from the people in the club and from the campground.

Here is the link to the campground.  They are very happy with our club, and even posted a page for us on their website regarding last years event.

http://www.islandcampingandmarina.com/

All of these datails are slightly subject to change due to planning finalization, but the most important thing is to remember the event dates, and to mark your calendar now!

I have just finished the reservations for our specific sites at Island Campground and Marina.

Please look at the link for the specific map.

http://www.islandcampingandmarina.com/Maps.html

We have much of the same space as last year, however, we have even a bit more.  We are in sites 1, 2, and 3 for anyone with an RV (Tom, Gary, and Jerry).  If we need more RV sites, please let me know ASAP!

We also have sites 22, 23, 24, 25, 28, and 29.  This gives us that entire block next to the parking area so that we can park boats on trailers overnight like we did last year.

Slips are going to be available again, and I have requested a block of slips together as much as is possible.  Of course, they are going to sell seasonal slips when ever they can, but they have agreed to close off the transient slips for that weekend.

Let's get those registrations in!

I have put together a graphic for the next year's meet for shirts, mugs and other Cafe Press items.  If you want to make you own I will send you the graphic or like we did last year I can put your boat's picture on the image for you as well.

I can make the graphic with those but a larger image would do much better.  If you (and anyone else) can send me photos that are 1024X800 or larger I can make the graphic.  Smaller pix can be made larger for the graphic but do get grainy.

I sure hope to make it up there this year. I haven't had my boat in the water since the 2008 meet in Pepin.

I do love the new look, but wrong Dan I believe. The kids and I are planning on being there, maybe not the wife, she's not into camping.

Keeping in mind the success of any project often depends on doing groundwork, I mentioned in casual conversation with my wife last night that "next year we're going to vacation in MN, to attend the Clastron Classic Meet".   ;)  Her response wasn't all bad, "I'll see you when you get back".  Works for me.  ;D

I sure wish I could give a for sure yes. The wife says yes, as long as we get a hotel room. But, I'm back in the unemployment line again. Not sure we'll have the cash to make the trip. If'n I find a job by then, we'll be there.

That sucks Dan. Best of luck.
Tent camping would be cheaper.

I agree, it would be cheaper. But I'm not gonna get unemployment, so we are living on my wifes check. Being self employed and only working with one company was nice for a while. But not any more. I still hope to have something lined up by then.
