Steering wheel repair
« on: September 28, 2018, 04:43:13 PM »
From Ray (rayar3) ..

Did a little steering wheel repair before shipping out a wheel to a fellow member. This one had tiny cracks that didn’t take away from functionality, but they were noticeable to a keen eye. This is simple and you can do it in about 20 min. You need: JB Weld Plastic Bonder, a brown dye (Testors gloss brown enamel), acetone, painters tape, and some lint free rags.
Very little brown paint is used. I dipped the head of a toothpick into the mixed paint and further mixed the already mixed epoxy. That’s it! Apply with a popsicle stick and wipe clean with a dry rag. Clean up any mistakes with the acetone and any residual as it cures. The epoxy tends to expand as it cures. Be careful not to have too much acetone as it might affect the original finish. Good luck!
