A crack in the hull on the port side at the edge of the transom.
Upon investigation the port side gusset delaminated.

After several days of working on Keisha and Jake’s 99 Passat we got all new suspension and a new axel installed so the GT is now in the shop.
Turns out the floor was delaminated half way up.

Cut that out. Stringers are good but it seams the cabinet plywood was not the right choice as the vineer pulls off.
So it should be an “easy fix”...
New gussets and glue the floor back in.

The moral of the story is if you’re not using composite...
at the very least use marine plywood.
Now on to Plan B, not sure what that is yet.

OH OH .. I used exterior ply for transom and rear floor ..I suspect it’s related to the cabinet plywood, any thing that is not protected looks questionable
Guess I'll be using marine ply when replacing floor !
