SOLD !! 79 CVX 20...100% original SOLD !!
« on: August 25, 2015, 10:08:31 AM »
Hello everyone,
First of all, I'm a major fan and a small time Glaston Carlson collector, I have owned 9 over the past 25 years, currently have 3 CVX16, CV23 and the CVX20.
I purchased this boat appox 5 years ago, from the original owner, an elderly couple in northern Minnesota, I was told that it spend the majority of its life on a 500 acre lake.
At the time of purchase I pulled the starter, alternator and carburetor off and had all rebuilt and tested, new hoses and belts, battery, a complete tuneup with plugs, wires, points and condenser and oil change, installed new bearings, wear ring and impeller in jet pump.
This year I did have the distributor replaced with an electronic ignition system, and the starter rebuild again.
Last year I installed a new electric place diverter on the jet unit (something that all jets should have).
The professional jet boat mechanic that I had to do the work this year claims he sees no issues whatsoever with the motor and not to be afraid to run it as I wish.
The trailer is a 93' Shoreliner that I had painted and pinstriped to match.
The interior is still absolutely stunning with no rips tears or stains and the original light beige shag carpet !
I truly believe the boat has never been ran hard.
With the impeller I have installed the boat top RPMs are only 4100 maybe 4200 with the diverter up and shooting a 200 foot rooster tail that will push the boat a true fun 57 / 58 mph, i've been told by the performance jet boaters that a different style impeller would raise my RPMs to the proper power range for this motor and give it another 5+ mph, well I don't believe in running big block motors at high rpm's and I am perfectly happy with the performance of this boat. I also installed "loader style"grate intake.  I'm sure it's time to replace the impeller wear ring which is a 2 hour, $200 project. No exhaust manifold leaks and I do not believe they have never been even taken off, uses no oil and has no oil leaks.
Everything on the boat works all gauges, lights and bilge pump.
The finish on the boat still takes a great wax and shines well, there are a couple very minor scuffs and very minor discoloration on the original gold metal-flake that is to be expected, I could easily take pictures and send of any marks or discoloration although so minor I don't know how well they will show up in pictures.
This boat is a true survivor with great maintenance and as I said completely original.
By far this has been my favorite boat and I meant what I said that it's time for somebody else to enjoy it.  Of course there are more Glastrons in my future.
Thank you for your interest feel free to contact me with any other questions or pictures.

Well I would like to see where it goes as far as the price, I can see and would like to see the price to be north of $8000.  This is a very nice original boat that is ready for the water or show.  I have actually walked away from a lot of beautiful Glastrons because someone cut a hole in the dashboard for radio or cigarette lighter.
A totally unmolested CVX 20 i believe is worth all of what I'm asking for in my option.
I'm anxious to see the replies positive or negative
Thanks, Jimmy
Maybe some of you remember me from the show a few years back with this boat...

So do you have 2 CVX 20's? I know you bought one just like it from Scotty 007 here in the Twin Cities a few years back. What happened to that boat? Amazing boat BTW! 9/10 for me instead of a 10/10 only because of the horn mounted on the deck

I talked to Scotty this week, the CGOAMN club member you bought that boat from. I figured the chance of you running across an identical CVX20 w/original shag carpet was 1 in a million. He bought it from the old elderly couple, you bought it from him. All water under the bridge now I guess although I'm not sure why you just wouldn't have stated that in your post to begin with. Oh well.

I don't get that comment Kip.  Jimmy purchased the boat, he has every right to list it for sale however he chooses, what am I missing?

Well it's like this… Scotty owned the boat for approximately 3 hours, never transferred into his name,  it was our agreement (Scotty and I) that I was the second owner of the boat because of that reason, legally that is 100% correct, and the boat did come in elderly couple in northern Minnesota per Scotty... Cool or Not ?

Its not really for any of us to judge that stuff...sounds like Scotty and you had a handshake and an understanding!

Yep. Scotty was pretty much a broker in this case. The way jimmy advertised the boat is totally cool. No worries.

I know he didn't own it long enough to switch the paperwork but when I asked you the question a few days ago about whether or not that was the boat he sold you, why not just answer "yes".

Sorry I was just trying to make sense of the whole thing.
