Reservations were easy, basically just told them I was coming and needed a slip and place to put the tent.  I know we discussed at great length last year but some topics that should be reopened:  1.   Will there be a whiteboard, or possibility a webpage that would let everyone know what the group is planning.  For instance, I know a trip to Kini park will likely happen Saturday, Tim and I are planning to go to Hudson before when the water is calmer(7am ish), then head back down to the park to meet with group.  If someone could post then everyone would know.   Goes for other events that as a group are planned.  I'm on my own so I have extra room for those that may need a ride(Doug).   I like going out early and late, avoiding the mid day sun(OK, so I'm a Ginger).

Secondly, will there be a basic area layout in the camping area?  Common area, wide lane for vehicle access to all campsites.   Maybe use some flags to mark off area for trailers, vehicles, and tents?   Maybe use the treeless area on the west for trailers, and last years trailer area for day trippers?

Oh and BTW, some may remember last years wing dam incident, got a Navionics app installed and so far it is wonderful to have on the river, hopefully it will keep me safe on the Miss.

I had thought about a Twitter account...easy way to post the days activities and also be notified if someone needs help.  Editing a webpage isn't very fun for those that need to do the editing...we're there to boat & socialize too.

A rough timeline for activities has always been posted on the website:  http://www.cgoamn.com/75.html  I've found trying to schedule something to happen at a particular time is like herding cats...doesn't happen.

I do think (and folks said this last year) that we need to arrive at Kinnickinickinickinick earlier.

With Gregg back in action, he'll be happy to lead the charge I'm sure.

A twitter account though would be very easy (and instant communication) for everyone...

Am I remembering this correctly...didn't we have a hard time getting wood?  Or getting charged a crazy amount for it?

Twitter would be OK, was thinking maybe just a event thread like this that folks post to inform others what is going on.   Don't want to trouble anyone to create a time consuming deal.    As for wood, we are now quarantined, can't bring any.   Is it possible to harvest some on the river, I could bring a saw to hack some driftwood?

Thread would totally work too...maybe a new thread each day.  'Thursday Activites', then 'Friday...'  etc.  Thoughts?

Should we change the "Run to the Kinni" to say ... 9:00 - 9:30 ?
Is that enough time for people just going for the day, to make it there and launch ?

How about an "Email blast" with updates ?

I believe the consensus was that we need to leave earlier than last year.  Leave by 9:00 is probably a good idea.

Email blasts with the forum software doesn't work Gregg.  Too many people, it chokes the software and never sends anything.  Previous years emails, I actually have to generate an email list from queries from the back end DB server with some SQL. Then massage all the email addresses so they'll be formatted correctly to send out from the sites gmail account.

Going to need to either be a thread, a Twitter account, or some other cloud driven technology for folks to use.

You want me to prep the blast email?

"back end DB server"  "SQL"
What did he say ?

OK .. Bad idea on email blast ...
Heading down / up to Kinni  at 9:00 sounds OK to me .

Maybe post a river map of how to get there at launch/dock/camp grounds for late arrivals.

Just an announcement on CGOAMN would suffice IMHO.   We stayed for hours last year, partially due to lunch, beautiful surroundings, lots of cool Glastrons, and a dose of engine issues.  If you post leave at 9am from TI, some may come from the north, others may join up, still others will meet us there.   An Email or message blast might be problematic, and I don't want to see anyone having to spend valuable relaxation time fighting technology.   My thought would be if Tim and I want to head to sandbar at 1:30, we would just post something like that on the daily thread, and see who shows up.  Of course after notifying members who are with us at Kini.

I think there was an agreement that all trailers should go in the open area between the camp ground & casino.
This will leave the area next to the parking lot for a common space with a fire ring.
Campers will also be told NOT to block campground access with vehicles.
I think me & my campers were the ones doing most of the blocking!

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a couple laminated river maps that we could leave in camp and draw on them with Dry erase.

Don't you think 9am leaving is too early for the people that just show up for the day? If someone were coming even just from the Minneapolis area they would have to leave their house by 7:30 at least to make sure they could get there and launch to be ready by 9.  If someone came from farther away they would have to leave even earlier.

Should we possibly leave in 2 groups? one at 9am and one at 10 or 10:30am

I will ask Summer about Fire wood I know they have a bunch. Otherwise I could probably bring some.
I think this has become an addiction.

I'm sure there will be people that don't get the up dated info and show up at 10:00 - 10:30.
Some might be coming from other launches also ...

Joe ..
With all your spare time, would you have time to do shirts ?
Would be great if you could ...

Shawn ..
Last year they had and delivered us wood, but wanted like $20 for a small load.
I think Summer said it was free, maybe delivery charges ?

Jim ...
Ya .. there really isn't a road way through camp grounds, maybe keep tents and trailers (pop up campers) back a little farther from general path that leads down from parking lot.
Use where you and Joe were camped for the fire pit / group gathering area.

Since we now have the EAB and cannot transport(or should not) I would be happy to contribute into  a "Firewood Fund"  or process some driftwood if that is acceptable?

Well, there is/was a semi-obvious loop around the campground.  The only problem with that is that you can't see it at night...
