Launched September 5th from Lions Levee in St. Paul Park
Went from there to Hastings dam, then to the City of St. Paul

Can't believe we missed you Dave. We were launched from the Wakota bridge about 1 and headed north to Ford dam, hung out at a beach near fort snelling for a while then a quick ride up the MN. Was a perfect day to be on the water! Hopefully we get a couple more this year. Emmett found a massive clam.

We launched at about 12 noon and headed south to the Hasting Dam, turned around and were back at St. Paul Park I'd say at about 1 to 1:30 and headed north on the Mississippi. You were ahead of me when we passed the Wakota Bridge. I looked at the boats at the ramp there, and if you were there, I would have seen your CV23. We headed into St. Paul and turned around about one mile north of the no wake zone in downtown St. Paul. I started out with 16 gallons of gas, which translated at 4 MPG, means 64 miles so I needed to go back to the boat launch to not run out of gas. Trip was 52 miles. Could not have asked for a better day - 79 degrees and slight wind.
Thought about the various past year's boating trips and stops along the same stretch of the Mississippi and wished we could have them again.

Very interesting. We did make a quick detour towards pigs eye lake. We always like looking at the barge ramp and other equipment in there. You may have snuck by us while we were in there. We are hoping to make another trip up there this fall. The boys want to go through the Ford dam lock.
-
And stop by the pirate ship as well Jason? We came close to going through the lock at Ford dam one year, but with barge traffic, we were afraid of getting stuck up there and getting back to TI in the dark.

Pig's Eye Lake looks interesting. Is it just South of the Northern Metal iron scrap, stone, and sand heaps? Any danger of shallow water getting into the lake from the Mississippi or on the lake itself?
-
We always turn around at the mouth of the lake. It’s pretty shallow.

There was a boat launch here, about 40 years ago.
-
Gregg, you worked close to Pig's Eye Lake. Did you ever explore it?

" Did you ever explore it? "
Yes .. a little bit ..
It’s the biggest park in St. Paul. And nobody knows about it.

Never saw any boats or even people fishing on the lake. Lot's of deer & ducks though ..

Huh. The woman in that article is a friend of mine. We see them every summer or two up North.

No clue that was there, when I was a kid we used to go to Battlecreek park on the other side of the highway. I guess when I was a kid that was a dump
