Not sure what the outcome of this will be...runs great, hoping its just a rattle from a bracket or something non-critical. (I think we all know it's not.)

Nope, it ran all week like that. I need to spend more time with this boat...I've run it our 2 vacation weeks and put it away wet (& winterized) immediately afterwards only to start it up the next year. So...yep, will do more investigation this summer while we're living in MN.

Actually they are not in the manifolds but in the y pipe that goes down to the transom. Pretty easy to check. You should also be able to hear the noise coming from back in that area.

Once all the rubber wears or melts away from over heating there is a metal skeleton that's falls apart and ends up in the exhaust bellows, or they fall out when you pull the outdrive for service. Easy to replace, a good hose pick will work well to loosen up the bellow. Will need riser gaskets too but it is easy.

Post by: nes-cv23 on July 07, 2020, 12:48:00 PM: You don’t need to buy any fancy stethoscope... you can just use a 1/4” dowel rod or any long screwdriver.. one end on your ear and the other, you just touch what you think is making the noise and you will be able to hear it very easily..

Post by: dorelse on July 08, 2020, 10:15:32 AM: It definitely doesn't follow the idle or the motor...more throttle and it goes away. I'm not super worried about it honestly... a) its a white blob boat :D b) I ran the boat all week with that noise and it never changed or got worse.

The plan is to remove the rear seat and give the engine a good look-see, clean everything up and get the carb sent out for a rebuild. (I really have to crank the motor over to get it to restart when hot, and the accelerator pump doesn't seem to work.)
