I call this maneuver the 'Doubletap'  (Zombieland movie reference)


Not sure what the outcome of this will be...runs great, hoping its just a rattle from a bracket or something non-critical.  (I think we all know it's not.)

The "clanking" doesn't sound rythmic, sounds more like gimbal bearing or u joint.  Maybe slip the drive off and recheck?  Looks like a fun outing, and hopefully you didn't get stranded.

Nope, it ran all week like that.  I need to spend more time with this boat...I've run it our 2 vacation weeks and put it away wet (& winterized) immediately afterwards only to start it up the next year.  So...yep, will do more investigation this summer while we're living in MN.

Get a mechanics stethoscope.  You'll be able to narrow your search area with it.  To me it sounds like a failed bearing or gear. My vote is the power steering pump.
