I went this morning and looked at a 1976 gt Spirit of America Edition. It has been sitting in basement garage for over 10 years had motor trouble and never used again. Big family estate many owners but if they decide to sell will give me first chance not advertised just struck
up conversation at local bar. Also will be selling my css19 at next months classic glastron, starting at $10,000. Will be bring back my cvx 16 (Indian Summer) from Texas next year.
Thanks

Thank you for the info. Hoping to get seats done. We are in St. Cloud MN any recommendations? Also, i see the steering wheel on one of the photos is different than ours. Is that original wheel?
-
1975 and earlier GT150's used ( picture #1) wheel.
Most small 1976 , 1977, 1978 & 1979 Glastron's and there Bass boats used this (picture #2 , #3 , #4) wheel.
The other two pictures (picture #5 & #6) I have of 1976 GT150's have a Carlson style and older Glastron style.
Which wheel is in your GT ?
What is your HIN ?
You can email it to me thru my profile, if you don't want to post on forum.

Looks like a regular 1977 CVX 16 with windshield and rails.
Motor might be a 1983 ..
Check HIN on right side of stern .. should be "GCV XXXXX M77 X"
Has wood supports behind front seats ..
Had a Mercury motor on it at one time, T & T hose block cut out in splash well.
Large plate on transom ..
Nice looking boat .. price seems good .. unless transom and /or floor are soft.
-
Because I saw the one on Facebook too. Very close to home. Hope he has it yet.
-
If transom is original .. it's might be bad.
Seat boxes look iffy ..
-
It''s been on CL for two days .. won't last long at that price .. :o
1989 Glastron CVX16 - $2,750 (Rice)
https://stcloud.craigslist.org/boa/d/rice-1989-glastron-cvx16/7382017813.html

Going to look at it this week. How can we tell if transom is bad? Floors should be able to tell if they are soft when standing in.
-
Water collects in boxes under front seats and rots, could be why there's wood supports in back.
The boat and wood is 44 years old and is most likely bad .. maybe ..
Best way is to drill small holes near bottom of transom and under motor and speedo tube mounts, then check if wood shavings are wet or soft.
Most seller's aren't going to let you do something like that though ..
You could poke around with a sharp object on inside of transom and also grab motor and try to rip it off to see if there's any flex of the transom.
If you can do the work yourself it would be about $500 to $1000 in materials .. give or take a few $.
Look like it's a nice boat from pictures .. even if flake is a little dull, it can be wet sanded and compounded to it's original shine and you don't see many boats with there original vinyl.
If you took it to a boat repair shop, might $3000 or more to repair depending on stringer, floor and transom condition.
Search our forum and here .. for CVX16 rebuild threads ..

So, after comparing for an hour. I believe the boat is actually a 1977 Carlson CVX deluxe. Do you agree? It is not a Glastron. Not a 78 Carlson because the back set has 3 backrest sections and this boat only has one. It is not a 79 because the colors are gold and yellow.
Agreed? This is driving me crazy. Guy is getting me hull #, we look on Thursday. Long wait. Lol.
-
It is a 1977 Glastron Carlson CVX16 Deluxe ..
I miss read brochure .. Thought only CVX16's ( non deluxe) came in orange and white .. Sorry
How to read HIN's ..

Happy Friday everyone! We got the 77 Carlson CVX16 home yesterday. What a beautiful boat, in great condition, this boat has a better vinyl interior than I have ever seen in a car. I think we will use the 3M Marine rubbing compound or the 3M 36106 Gelcoat compound to shine up the girl. We will be had buffing, any thoughts as to which might be better? The boat has no cracks or knicks, just faded orange glitter. I will post some pics later. Thanks
-
Here she is!!
-
Here she is! Previous pic is "The tale of two beauties" They don't make em like this anymore.
-
Here is another pic.
-
Plus the 76 GT150 Spirit of America!!
-
GREAT SCORE !
It hard to say which is best start for flake restore without seeing it in person.
But ..
I took off bow light and used un faded flake under it as a gauge as to how it should look.
I used just compound and wax at first, but needed to wet sand, compound, Finesse it 2, wax (all 3M products) to get back to original shine.
You could start with some heavy compound and wax to see results you get.

We are selling the 1976 GT-150, please see the classifieds under forum if interested. Thanks,
-
Congrats on the boat love the color combo!
