Title: WINDSHIELD HELP
Post by: jnich24 on August 29, 2021, 12:36:45 PM
Can someone give me advice of the easiest wat to remove the windshield frame for a 73 cv-16? I am getting my butt kicked by it.

Thanks to all

John

There are small clips that hold windshield into aluminum frame.
I have never done it .. but you will need to "carefully" spread aluminum frame apart to get clips out of channel of frame.

Picture below is best I could find ..
The ones used on your windshield don't have the nut welded to them, but have a sharp "tooth" that would dig into windshield plexiglass

Thanks Hyperacme...I got it done. I had to make several thin shims to wedge in between the small tabs and the windshield finally came out. It was not an easy job for sure. I don't see why a new windshield cannot be placed back in with just windshield adhesive.

Thanks again

Could you take a few pictures of clips and post them, I had some pictures and lost them ..   :o

You might be able to get a "thicker" GLAZING ASSEMBLY VINYLS to get a tighter fit of plexi wind screen.

Urethane windshield adhesive I believe is compatible with plastics, and can be tooled in place similar to rtv.   Might be difficult to cut out a windshield should that become necessary?
