2018 Mo River Run

<< < (2/3) > >>

75starflight:
It is a run on the Missouri River heading north from NP Dodge park in Omaha. We cruise up river to the cottonwood marina at Blair for lunch and then usually we do a float back down stream since the current is fairly strong.

Plugcheck:
Just a bump and a heads up, September 8th is just around the corner for the annual Glastron Mo River Run.   We meet at NP Dodge park, just north of Omaha Nebraska, head up north to Cottonwood Marina near Blair Nebraska for lunch, then float back at least some of the way back to NP Dodge.  Its only a day trip event, but camping and lodging is available for those interested.  NP Dodge usually offers camping, but this spring's flooding forced the campgrounds closure.  Not certain, but it might be open by the 8th, I kinda doubt it, but you could call and ask.  We try to launch at 10:00 am, hopefully everyone is ready to head north about 10:30-10:45.  If memory serves me correctly I think its about 26 river miles.   I am generally in no hurry, maybe do 30-35mph so the group stays fairly together.    Fuel is available at both locations.

I forgot to put this on the Calendar.  :-[ I have 3 other things planned for that day.  Is there any chance we can move it to the 15th?

Plugcheck:
Huh, did any of those "things" get scheduled before December 2017?  Only Trent has responded that the 8th was good, I'm ok with 15th, but need to hear from Trent then before reschedule.

Plugcheck:
Checking with others interested, September 8th is locked in, but with one caveat.   The Missouri river may very well be closed still, we need to just keep an eye out.   Levels have been very high this spring with rain, when that stopped, they had to let out the reservoir's.  This past Sunday/Monday we received 7"+ of rain, some parts in Iowa got 11".   This all finds it way into the MO through various means, so they held back water up north to prevent worse flooding here.   Levels seem to be close to normal, but they need to release up North.   What does all this mean?   I'll just have to keep an eye out for conditions.   Expect a posting the night before as a final confirmation, or ask, I can go down there anytime to NP Dodge as its only about a 10 minute drive.   Anyone else interested in attending?   It can take 2 hours or all day depending on how long a person wants to float back.  26 river miles, we generally take about 40 minutes to get up there bucking the current.   Cottonwood marina is a nice place to eat, Surf Side is as well, but I've not stopped in there yet from the river side.
