BOAT = Bust Out Another Tube (of sealant!)
I had the hood popped on my CVX-18 and much to my surprise, saw daylight from below. We've been getting a little (not a lot) of water in the bilge and wondering where it was coming from. From the looks of it, the water could be coming in from the joint between the deck and the hull, right above the transom. See frownie face for daylight, and a frown.
It looks like this may have been sealed in the past, since there is some residue. Does anybody have any recommendations on sealing this up? I am not going to take the deck off, I'm just looking to apply something to the outside of this joint.
I found some tape and also various sealants and caulks on Amazon, but also some notes on products that may damage the fiberglass in some way, or not stick.

If I could pick, I would prefer a black sealant/caulk or tape to clear, but I'm really looking for what will stay flexible in the summer heat and winder colds. I store the boat in an unheated barn in the winter.
FYI I am heading up to Wisconsin on Sunday for some boating, so ideally I can find something that ships quick/can be purchased locally at a hardware store and also sets quickly. I want it all, right?? Any recommendations are appreciated!

3m 4200 or 5200 you can get it in black.

I used 3M 4200 around joints and trim pieces ..
Stuff stick to gel like crazy !

Home Depot sells a marine sealant in tubes that is very similar to the 3m product (5200).

Im a bit fuzzy here but a seem to remember one of the 3m sealants, 5200 or the 4200, sets up quite a bit quicker. Im thinking the 4200. I've used both with great results when I gave it enough time to fully cure. That last sentence is important..... really.....I used some 5200 on a fishing boat below the water line that didn't have a full cure. Yep, they failed and the water did what it does. Ive found it at our local marinas and the ace hardware in town.

Don't forget to check the areas under the rub rail on either side of the transom. Mine leaked there when coming off plane

3M 5200 is great stuff but it is a strong permanent adhesive. Boat Life Life-Calk remains flexible and won't harm gel. It adheres to fiberglass but can be removed. You can buy it from Hannay's

Thanks everybody! We went with the 3M 4200. It says that its fully cured in 24 hours, but we gave it 36.
We lightly sanded a little area on the hull and deck first. Then we wiped down that area with acetone, using a lint-free rag. We taped the hull for a clean line and used some big popsicle sticks to try and smooth it out.
We did not have time to check the rub rails. We're on the water this week, so if it doesn't work, I'll reply back asking for more help, lol!
