Half Done
« on: May 20, 2012, 12:06:24 AM »
I got the flake yesterday, didn't expect it until Monday or Tuesday, so I spent yesterday on the trailer, put a new set of bunks on it, but today I finished the prep for gel coat, shot the flake on and that went well, layed down with minimal orange peel, then I started applying the clear, got the top done, the stern, starbord side, then the bow ... but I picked up the wrong can, put 10% more styrene thinner in it rather than the wax .. Grrrr ... so now I have the heater on in the shop, thermostat set on 90 degree's, hoping it will tack up so I can finish tomorrow, it's hell getting Ole

That looks incredible.  I can't wait to see it.

I don't think I'm anywhere near "ole" and I have problems too ... set out several mixing containers for resin while working on mine yesterday, for the last half quart I accidentally grabbed a "freshly used" container.  By the time I was done mixing and ready to pour & roll, it was the consistency of Jello.  Had a whole 2-3 minutes with that batch.
