Starflite shake down run
« on: May 24, 2012, 06:04:59 PM »
Took the starflite out today for its first run of the year. Found a couple of issues that I need to address before the run on rathbun. First we sat at the launch for 45 minutes trying to get it started after I flooded it out, that was a lovely time. Second, I discovered that I some how managed to install the steering helm so it steered the opposit way you turned the steering wheel. And third, I need to adjust the throttle linkage( which is very sloppy) to achieve my proper idle around 750, which is where it was before we took it out.

Now for the good. Finally took her to WOT achieved 38 MPH in choppy water @ 4600 rpm with an aluminum 19p from Michigan wheel. No GPS.

Cool! How did you drive the boat with it steering the opposite way? Did you fix it at the ramp?
My Mercruiser 120 gave me almost the same results, 36 mph @ 4600 rpm with a 21p aluminum prop, 40 mph @ 4600 with a stainless 21p.

Rich, I did it very carefully. ;D I did not fix it at the ramp, I just had to think about what I was doing (boy was that a work out) :P. I did just get done fixing it here at home so it works correctly now(I had my wife check just to be sure)!

Made me think of 'Mater from the Cars movie being the king of backwards driving! We should give you an award at the meet!

Glad you got things worked out before the meet. I'm hoping to get out this weekend so I can do the same!

Good one Josh! I was thinking of when Doc told Lighting to go left you have to go right. ;D

I might just have to find a small matter to put on the bow during the show now  ;D

I didn't think of that one, but it works even better! Good thing you didn't end up in a ravine full of cacti!
