Apricot (orange) carpet
« on: May 31, 2014, 08:38:10 AM »

I am going to redo the floor (pretty soft) sooner rather than later.  I am struggling to find a marine grade carpet to match the upholstery.  I would really like to do an orange new boat style carpet.  I know it is a bit much of the orange, but what the heck, I'm going to try and make it glow in the dark.  Anyone have any luck finding something close to what I'm thinking?  What colors have others done with the apricot interior?  Pictures would be greatly appreciated.

David,

Phoenix has the same color interior as your CV. When I redid the interior I spent all winter trying to find matching carpet with no luck. I settled on a Brown Indoor/Outdoor carpet from Menards. It looks really good.

I had a really hard time finding a good green carpet for the cv16ss. Ended up finding some at Home Depot of all places.

I think I may have found some indoor/outdoor carpet that looks the part.  I have a piece coming my way to see how it looks; most definitely a retro orange shagadelic look.  This hunt was exhaustive, not much out there.

If the rain continues to fall in our area and the "No wake" continues, I might just tear into the floor and replace it sooner than I originally thought.  What supplier in the metro area are people using for product?  (resin, cloth, microballoon, foam floatation, etc)

I was hoping this carpet would work, unfortunately when delivered what was suppose to be indoor/outdoor carpet was actually 100% cotton.  So I am back to the search for an orange marine/outdoor carpet.  Supplier agreed to refund shipping as well.

Just wanted to post this so no one else orders this carpet thinking it is a good match.

I found some indoor/outdoor carpet for cheap that will look good, from some Overstock online distributor; bet they thought they would never get rid of the rust/orange carpet in the warehouse!

I pulled the floor today, a little cleanup to do yet. Needs to dry out for a few days too before I start with the resin.  Whoever designed and built the drain plug height location on this thing should be shot!  Well, they have probably passed already though.  How the heck could this thing drain all the water out without flipping it upside down?  I will probably put a vent in on each side of the center stringer in the rear under the splash well; that way I can always suck out any water if need be.

Has anybody else done anything different?

Mine had the rotted floor under the splashwell, cut out bad floor and bilge bowel and replaced with drain holes on bottom ...

If you come to the WBL boat show, I'll bring my Oscillating Multifunction power tool and some blades.
Not the fastest tool but easy to use and less chance of cutting a hole in your hull ...

Some one might loan you a grinder, unless you already have tools ...

Tools are pretty cheap at Harbor Freight .

Yup, they were really non existent.  The single stringer was completely rotted till about half way up, I cleaned everything out to the kick board under the dash and Ill butt in the new stringer and floor board there.  Rotted from the bottom up on this one, as is most of these boats I would guess.  I just came back from Tomas with the resin and cloth etc.  I'd probably be reassembling it back together tonight but I need to let it sit a few days and really dry out good and air out.

Found the data plate under the dash and it matched the one on the front of the dash: it says 62, so I'm assuming this was the 62nd CV 16 built.

Found a match book with 2 matches remaining from Churubusco State Bank (Indiana).  Kind of interesting to know where it was at one point.  Oh yes, and a big money find, a whole quarter!
